Web Africa ADSL general feedback

At what point does the upgrade/downgrade process? I checked this morning and my account has refreshed with the same package as last month, yet I can still see the request stating that the upgrade/downgrade would take effect on the 1st.

I don't want to be billed for the wrong product.

Same here, still sitting on the 200 gig package:

WebAfrica Helper, have not heard back from you guys but see you credited my acccount for the unused data, thanks for that but does that mean it will be refunded to me or just sit there as credit that I will only see if I use it to buy another product from Web Africa?

Submitted a support ticket at 9.40am this morning, have not heard a thing since then. Its been fun WA- not. Have not managed to get our account above a 3 star rating(which was only for a few days else we are sitting on mostly 1/2 star) in the time we have been with you so its all been money wasted. My recommendation...WA is NOT for gamers. Even when we dont download games, the constant disconnections is driving my people nuts..they all playing Destiny at the moment and not being able to connect is apparently a hazard to ones health. Cant say it was an orgasmic relationship. :D

(2mb line) I opened a ticket reporting the problem of this high latency, especially international latencies are very high, they replied with one of those "did you put it on and off?"-faceroll  Clearly knew I was wasting my time with no-brianers. Was getting about 185ms to FR and UK, now its 250+ms to FR and 210+ms to UK and getting many DCs. Annoyed by that but not nearly as annoyed about how they think there is no problem. Sometimes i even need to which from 480p to 360p on youtube... ayyy WA comon' [-_-]

Tested alternate ISPs and getting 185-190ms and faster loading sites and streams.

Three times now my account has been billed with the wrong amount. I downgraded to 4mbps a while ago and every month since, I have been billed for a 10mbps line.

WebAfrica has sorted it out each time I have complained, but why must I complain every single month?
Sort out your billing please.

Hi,

Your refund was processed today and it takes up to 72 hours (depending on your bank) for the funds to reflect after it has been processed by our Billing team.

Hi,

Constant disconnections can drive anyone against the wall. Please PM me your account details so I can check this issue out.

I decided to upgrade from 4mb/s to 10mb/s. In the Web Africa portal I did the upgrade of my uncapped account which it allows me to do no problem (and bills me accordingly as you might expect). When I tried to do the line upgrade, it said it would only go through at the end of the month (this was a little over a week ago). I got someone on an online chat, with the intention of downgrading my account until the line is done, but they told me I had to phone in for that. Tried phoning in, but gave up after 10 mins on hold. Decided to leave it till the end of the month. End of the month has come and gone, I have been billed for a 10mb/s uncapped account on a 4mb/s line, and line is still 4mb/s.

(BTW - I have now, through the same portal, sent a cancellation request for the account and the line. There are plenty ISP's out there. No need to tolerate this kind of thing)

Looking to sign up with a new ISP, so I want to find out how WA is with their Uncapped accounts.

I need a Uncapped account for 4Mbps line. How does the AUP work for WA? I had a look on their website, but I am just getting myself confused.
Is there a shaping/throttling system for uncapped? If so what are the limits before getting shaped on a 4mpbs account?

I'm moving away from Afrihost as I keep getting packet loss on Teamspeak. When I switch to WA capped account, the packet loss disappears.

Also how is the streaming and gaming?

Hi,

So sorry for this issue. There's is something wrong because you weren't suppose to be charged for a line upgrade, up until the line has been upgraded. Please PM me your account details so I can look into this and assist.

Hi,

We don't throttle nor shape our accounts but we prioritise them according to bandwidth priority during normal office hours and for the Home Uncapped service - the star rating plays an important role. Furthermore, there's no predefined amount our customers can use before their account is deprioritised during office hours (deprioritisation happens when your account drops from 5 or 4 stars to 3 or 2 or 1 star rating).

Ultimately, the Home Uncapped service requires management from the customer's side via the DSL consol(where you'll be able to see your usage) and I wouldn't recommend this package if you're working from home because it has the lowest bandwidth priority during normal office hours. I'd recommend the Home Capped package.

We use the internet at home for Gaming (Include steam, Origin and Uplay downloads), downloading, streaming, browsing, etc. Since getting a 4K tv we have been going for better quality viewing so when I do stream, etc for the TV it will all be in 1080p so our average usage for the last 3 months has been about 270GB per month.

I think the usage for the last couple of months has also been a bit higher due to a bunch of downloads from steam and PSN, so a capped account wouldn't really work for us (Pc is in the same room as me, so can't leave it on through the night to download).
