Web Africa's new ADSL pricing revealed

Yes I don't think we should be dissing WebAfrica staff... Its a company blunder, not someone specific!

This does not mean Im not pissed about 15th February...

Which post. Sorry, haven't read every reply:o.

The one that said:" To customers looking for a complete option, we are there company, for people like yourself who are only interested in large amounts of data we will not look as appealing."

Granted it wasn't to me. But since I am not a customer looking for a complete option. And the 10-30 gigs of local I use a month could be considered "large" by some (Even if it is PREPAID and I am happy to pay for it), I took it to mean that as a big f you finger. As in take it or leave it, we don't need you anymore

I had no idea they said that:wtf:

A sad day for WA , don't use them but by looking at their new pricing strategy I guess I never will
Must have used an old Telkom business model , and failed to listen to their customer's needs
Moms and pops are but a small % of internet users , the majority is the youth
and the youth of today are tech savvy ;)

Best of luck WA , maybe we'll see what you gots to offer come July
Till then, full steam ahead to the real movers 'n shakers may your client base grow strong

hmm no, that's more like obsessive compulsive hoarding

;)

it's only considered that in the SA context. visit international forums and see what kind of data usage you will see.

what amazes most is how south africans think we are abusing the internet when people download huge amounts.

his comment about certain of us not being needed or fitting into WA's "vision" anymore.
Hi Kalvaer,

Thanks for the post and valuable feedback. This statement by Krayon may have been misinterpreted. The MyBB community is most definitely very important to us. If it were not why would we employ every effort to ensure all queries were answered today, or launch specials like our 30GB @ R199? I think what he was trying to illustrate was that the new pricing was not geared specifically towards power users (as seen by the MyBB response thus far :O) who have a very particular type of demand - cost p/GB.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, we are definitely committed to MyBB and will continue to be so :)

Hi WaRoop

Next time you over charge your users in order to provide a select few with cheaper rates please change the criteria for consideration from a year's membership (and 20 measly posts) to something more substantial like 4000 posts.

I know you're in charge and everything but your current system makes users like me (both loyal MyBB members and WA subscribers) feel unwanted.

Thanks

We are the only user group that buys based on price? What does WA see a power user as? You do not cater for anyone that uses bandwidth for anything other than email.

Tip for WebAfrica... Release a 30 gig local only, for a competitive price, say R200, with access to the WA News Server and you should atleast retain if not gain some users...

How exactly are you committed to the MYbb community? Your new pricing and comments from the WA staff has clearly indicated that you will be moving towards a "mainstream" market for the mom and pops. You can keep stating that you are committed to Mybb, but from the pricing and products released today it indicates quite the opposite.
I am also not prepared to wait till july as I have already lost alot of money waiting for WA to step up whilst several ISP's have already agressively priced products on the market.

Yes, this is the business model employed by MWEB and Telkom, sad to see WA move in this direction.

I would like to hear what is a power user as well from them. We are in 2010, to use a minimum of 15GB a month should acceptable and not considered a power user IMO.

LOL ok, you have allot of posts, i grant you that, but you still didnt meet the 1 year criteria.

They already sell a 30GB account from IS for R130-00 a month which you can use to connect to the IS news servers.

Uhm, I can get 30 gig local for under R200...something like R150 with 2 gig int thrown in...why on earth would I pay R200 for local only?

IS News Server is crap... Saix local is expensive... WebAfrica isn't cheap ;) So thats why R200!

Huh? We've been active members of the forum for years and always do our absolute best to respond to customer queries head on. Today we ensured almost every question was responded to and as promptly as possible (while juggling our usual work load). This statement is hardly fair Igloonaut?

I think WebAfrica's support levels are great and I for one am impressed with the fact that senior staff actually take the time to respond to comments on this forum. As for users like Igloonaut, you're talking about members who basically have no posts, spend most of the time posting childish rants and nothing more, therefore not adding real value to the forum to begin with.

In general, I have found a lot of replies from some forum members on this particular thread to be quite appalling and completely unprofessional. A lot are not objective at all and borders on being malicious, which isn't allowed on the forum to begin with. Moderators should have done a better job with this thread, especially in curtailing the vindictiveness from certain members.

I wasn't impressed with WebAfrica's new price list either but I realise I'm simply not WA's target market. I will find my bandwidth elsewhere until such time where WebAfrica offers products which are more geared towards real power users. But I'm not going to start criticising every WA employee into the ground like some of these forum members (kids?) are doing, just because WA's business model doesn't suit me (at this time). It's unnecessary and achieves nothing.

Me too bud. And we'll see quite soon the whole "we don't need you anymore" part being downplayed as some kind of other explanation or excuse as to what they "really meant". Like I said before. By July they'll have so much free capacity on their brand new network due to the bad-word-of-mouth they'll be getting and (I haven't counted yet) several users cancelling their accounts based on this alone... don't know about them, but 20-100k a month is kind of a big deal for me when it comes to turnover...

And here's the excuse I talked about earlier.

waroop, only 100 out of the 7000+ members got your "special". Not all of your loyal clients were made aware of this "special". The only reason why you did that is BECAUSE YOU FULL WELL KNOW the power of this forum. It can make you.... and break you.... "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."

If Sentech doesn't ring a bell, you really need to go back and rethink everything you and your employees say in this forum.

AFAIK this forum is not about professional courtesy or company meetings or any such **** out there. Apologies if my (and other Joe Soap users) have been less than "professional"....

Mmmm, opens Afrihost in tab and makes plans to move 3 company branches and self aWAy in the morning.
