This is true. And some of the comments have been really childish. Granted I singled out Krayon, But only about his statement on the Spar vs Woolworths niche market statement which really peeved me off, because no matter which way I read it. It still seems like it was a big F you finger saying we were no longer needed. Waroop responded back late that night saying it was misinterpreted, but we haven't seen s single WA staff member back since. (guess they really did all get the emails telling them to back off and pull back and until further notice).
The MWEB mommy daddy days are over. Its an over saturated market, one that is changing quickly. MWEB thought that its learning thing was helping kids, Its the Moms and Dads who are learning as well, and are no longer as gullible as people make them out to be. This one account things is also BS. Who cares now days. Its not like I have to drive to telkom, then to WA, then to afrihost, etc. Its all deducted automatically off a credit card or a debit order, and I don't even have to leave my chair to set it up
Nobody is denying the business aspect, if you filter out all the BS and insults you'll see its been said about 50 times already. I was actually still defending them until the "spar" thing
From their new pricing structure, it seems like
+/- R44.54 is the lowest WA is prepared to go for normal shaped international. This price of course means they are still making a profit or they would not of put it up. So why then then
R1
decrease in pre-paid BW? Its not like the old days were people would buy a 3 gig account and rape telkom for 60 gigs a month on the account. Pre-paid cuts off when its finished.
I would of been HAPPY with R60, and VERY happy with R50 on prepaid. Though I doubt that will ever happen because as has been discussed before, its not viable for a business.
For my personal use only, I buy 3-4 gigs a month internationa,l 1 gig unshaped, and 30-40 gigs local.
Focusing only on the international:
That cost me
R210-R280 a month.
With the new pricing structure I now make a massive
R3-4 saving a month.
However, if I move to Afrihost it will now cost me
R117 -R156 a month
That's a
R93 - R124 saving.
Nobody in their right minds would think that's right.
Lets just say for example that
R44 is the lowest WA would go as seen from the pricing.
They are making a
R25 profit on the prepaid accounts.
If 10% of myBB people move their business as you said, that's about 8000 people.
So
8000 * R25 = R200 000.00 they are losing PER GIG!
If people topped that up 3-4 times a month, that's R800k to a million
profit gone a month.
If they only make a R10 profit on the prepaid accounts instead of the R25, I would more than likely keep my prepaid business with WA, But I cant deny the saving from moving.
As I also said in my first post. I have never minded paying a premium for WA's service and also a premium on the prepaid accounts. Using the above, R54 seems fairto me. And its not a thing of "oh... but then we only make R10 per gig off of you.." Right now
, R80 0000 a month
PROFIT. is better than a
R200 000 loss
per gig if all the users move.
Moneywise it just doesn't make sense to stay with WA prepaid right now. Since I am prepaid, and no longer their niche market, I guess its time to move on, as much as that really does sadden me, I have to look at the bottom line.
