We are going to rewards those that are loyal as well and support and are building the systems to support that in the coming months.

i was spending on average R900 p/m for like 8GB of data for the last 3 years or so , finaly in january i could not justify the costs of using your services anymore. Now tell me does this make me unloyal?

I sort of was thinking now that i kind of feel bad for the people who thought this move with WA would be exciting with the pricing. Although i am pretty sure they knew there will be some negative response, but i dont think this much was planned for.

I think what WA does not understand what it is that people want. With all the response from the people i highly doubt WA will even consider giving into what people want as a standard internet as the rest of the world. And thats what we all want right? to be able to just enjoy the internet. I want to also watch youtube movies(if you watch a clip for 5 mins its 30 megs gone), i want to also download pictures(not naked ones, well maybe a few.lol), i dont listen to the radio but i would like to listen to american radio if i could or englands. I want to download the stuff i cant now and enjoy it.
What i am saying is people just want to use all the internet has to offer and enjoy it at a price that everyone can afford. Until this happens there is no ways people will believe that you are here for the people, cause what i see is a company who wants as much profit they can get for as long as they can and are not really focused on what the people want as long as they keep making money.

When what they should be doing is both, making a profit and keeping the people happy with being able to enjoy the product, then everyone is happy.
There is always an excuse that even a local uncapped acount is not able to be done with out it being high price, why is that, what makes even local data so expensive? I think the majority will be more than amased that even if an affordable local uncapped was out there, i know i would. and i could probaly live like that for the rest of my life with.

Having an uncapped local will mean south africa will start building their own stuff, and we can get what ever it is we want right here from other south africans, and would hardly even need to use INTERNATIONAL bandwidth. hence ISP's would'nt need to worry about INTERNATIONAL capacity and a power user using all of it up.
I really think a local uncapped would boost this country so fast people wont even know what happend. Overseas will start hosting their servers here, they would upload from their side to there servers here , like they do between USA, UK, CHINA area, AUSTRALIA.

At the moment no matter how much any company says they are their for their loyal cusomers though, I dont believe it one bit, considering what we have to put up with from everyone and the lies.

WA's official group on facebook has disappeared....

LOL

I wonder what Gian is thinking . . . :D

Hi Kalvaer,

Thanks for the post and valuable feedback. This statement by Krayon may have been misinterpreted. The MyBB community is most definitely very important to us. If it were not why would we employ every effort to ensure all queries were answered today, or launch specials like our 30GB @ R199? I think what he was trying to illustrate was that the new pricing was not geared specifically towards power users (as seen by the MyBB response thus far :O) who have a very particular type of demand - cost p/GB.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, we are definitely committed to MyBB and will continue to be so :)
If it was misinterpreted, I would like to know how?

The world is changing, and this seems a step backwards. If WA now consider themselves to be the Woolworths. Then I must say I have to agree with the other statement made about it being overpriced re-branding.

Woolworths pork sells at R69.00 a KG. If you know where to buy it, You can get it from New Style pork (in the same packaging if you know who to speak to) for R29.00 per kilo.
Woolworths Extra Mature cheddar cheese sells for R108.125 a Kilogram. Guess what its plan old Paramalot with a different sticker on the front. Which costs R39.00 at Checkers.

Its all about what you know. With a forum like this, Unfortunately people do know a few people. While many are idiots and others are even worse. This forum does one thing and it makes them informed. Informed enough to let the Mom's and Pop's KNOW as well.

Last night I decided to finally play Mass Effect 2 for the Xbox 360. It asked to patch the game and download new missions. I clicked ok and walked away. I checked this morning and 650 megs are gone. Its a changing world. One in which we are all slowly becoming dependant on price per gig. This power user thing no longer stands any more. My Dad has discovered Skype, and now talks to my aunts and uncles every night. He uses about 300 megs a day alone on skype. Mom's and Pop's might be a bit behind, but they are catching up. Of course there are always going to be people like my sister for example who will buy something from Kalahari.net for 9k because she has an account, instead of from B&H in New York for R6k because she is to lazy to research and create a new account. If those are the people you are targeting. Then I am afraid it seems you are no longer supporting the MyBB community. I do however understand it. If I had the business opportunity to make a quick buck and head for the hills.. I would of done it already and not waited this long.

Again, I am being selfish here an its all about me for a change. Go research and check my posts. I have ALWAYS stood by WA. Ever since I moved over in 2005. While that means nothing I know. WA for me was about convenience on it over priced pre-paid accounts.

Seriously I don't think any of the people here who actually have a few braincells between their ears are saying that your package deals are badly priced. Its the shaped Pre-paid ones that are shocking. Unfortunately it does seem that you do have a large pre-paid community from the out cry here. I wouldn't know for sure, but you can obviously check how true that is yourself. Are you really willing to lose them all? Because unless you have a ace in the hole somewhere, I think you will.

My first post here although I have viewed Mybb for a while now.

Lets compare Bad Apples with Rotten Apples.

COMPLETE PACKAGES
Telkom Do broadband 3: 4mb line, 5Gb int & 30Gb local = R554
WebAfrica complete 5: 4mb line, 6Gb int & 0 local = R599

DATA ONLY
Telkom AllAccess 5Gb int & 30Gb local = R239
WebAfrica Data 2 4Gb int @ R199 + Local 4 12Gb local @ R159. That = R358

If I have got this wrong please correct me, but this is not what I was hoping for or was lead to believe was going to happen.

Cheers

its amasing how a company can make a bad move for themselves, and lose so much, whiile another one at the same time has to nothing at all and all of a sudden is boosted by those actions.

Afrihost did nothing, and look how much more business they got, just like that. This when when afrihost needs to give a small present to all those who have signed up yesterday and in a few days time.

I have to agree, if they are more expensive than telkom something is really wrong, they should have at least HALVED their prices to keep up with the likes of Afrihost. The only thing WA has going for them at this stage in my opinion is their gaming network, but it is still in the baby stages

What about the ones who were there all along? Do they not deserve a present?

well they got extra business for nothing, so all who signed up for making a move over should get a reward to show that afrihost is gratefull at them moving over in current circumstance. Just to show their appreciation.
allthough it would be nice for everyone to get a fee present for being with afrihost, but all those who sign up yesterday and later this month, should get a little something more i reckon. It boosts a person spirit even more when something like that is done for someone

Wow!

Are you trying to tell me that shaped prepaid is now a full 100c cheaper!? Gosh that must have put a huge dent in their budget! Talk about brave! Seriously guys Afrihost is still the best IMHO..

@ Linoman,

Let's assume you are on a 3GB package, at 29* per GB = R87 +152 for your line = R239 per month * remember this is a special rate
Our combination offer works out to R249. This is not a special, this is our standard pricing.

That is only a R10 difference in reality.

As for the advantages of being with Web Africa:

DSL console for monitoring usage
Prepaid topups never expire
Having 1 monthly account for line and bandwidth
24/7 dedicated adsl support
Auto top ups
Sms notifications
DSL Secure
FreeZone
Steam Content Server (going live soon)
Reliable network
No contract periods
Free Gaming Service

Hope this answers your question.
People can keep choosing to ignore the line cost, but it is real and we do compete well when all costs are factored in.

Thats kinda where your competitiveness ends... and its actually not competitive since its 10 bucks more expensive... how about compare a 50gig AFRIHOST account and a 50GIG wa account? or 100gigs? any comment then?

RPM has still not written about Webafrica's new pricing..Shows how we look after our pals, and we complain about the government..

Dear WA

The only way for you to redeem yourselves now is to open up the R199/30gb to everyone.

Last chance.

All i can say is that this is a" Big Disappointment".
To bad so sad for Web Africa.:(

Its a changing world. One in which we are all slowly becoming dependant on price per gig.

I think it should have read that we are becoming independent of the price per gig model, thats how the rest of the world functions. Bring on the R0.00 per Gig revolution.
