Dude, depending on the size of your pages, your local viewers would still receive an acceptable response from an international server.
Why on earth would you want to pay more for less hosting locally?

If only everyone would host internationally, then very quickly we would see a change in the attitude of providers here! Consumer Action is something we need to promulgate in this country - urgently!

Well I guess you right....just a nightmare to get any support with international hosts....or so im told..... MWEB comes highly recommended....trusted name in South Africa I would think.... I have some other services with them and very happy!! Just not sure about hosting...

From my experience, customer service internationally is very reasonable considering their numbers!

My host, IXWebhosting, takes a fair while to answer tickets. Their live help is fast. But as I use Skype a lot, I call them and get immediate attention in no more than 5 minutes waiting for my call to be answered.

Also, the features offered far exceed anything you can find here, and especially the price...also includes 2 FREE domain name registrations!
You can easily have a .co.za domain pointing to an international server..takes only a few minutes and about 30 minutes to promulgate the DNS world wide.

I dont want to compromise on quality, and more importantly I'd prefer not having my business in the hands of a fly by night company that will go bust in a couple of months..... Any body out there hosting with MWEB.... I'd like to know what your expoerience has been!!

I am having a M Web client migrate to us this week if that means anything. It's unprofessional to ask why.

Hosting with MWEB is not a good idea. Overpriced, under spec'd, lack of service.

There are lots of hosting resellers in SA who can offer you support locally. I have my own managed servers in the US with 24/7/365 support and I specialise in hosting websites for creative people and small businesses. My prices start at $55 a year for basic hosting, so PM me if you are interested.

I don't think it is unprofessional to blame and shame them!

SPEAK OUT people!! You have the RIGHT to FREEDOM of SPEECH!

When it comes to the IT industry in South Africa, one can easily be led to believe that...Professionalism = To screw you in a nice way so that you want more!
Rather... Tell it like it is!
