I have created a web site for my dad using powerpoint and have just finished uploading it to the host about 1 hour ago....

Problem is, it looks really crappy and ugly...Powerpoint isnt the right program to have used, owal.

Are there any other easy to use Web design programs that i can start over from fresh with that anyone could recommend to me? I dont know all that html code etc, so i need like a visual program

You could try and use MS Frontpage, if you have that installed. Otherwise go to www.soft32.com and look for a shareware or freeware webdesign package there. I personally use Visual Studio 2005/8 and Dreamweaver CS3 but I don't reckon you're going to want to get that for the job...

Powerpoint will make it look like a slideshow. You could try using Word (go to view->webpage layout).
Visual Studio is one of the leading (Microsoft) web design packages available. It costs in the region of R8000-R20000. Dreamweaver is R6000.

Your program requirements depend on what you want in the webpage.

Hahaha, dam a lil outa my price range:eek::D

Um, thanks hey I guess i will just try some freeware stuff:)

I dont need anything special on the web page, just want it to be neat with a few pics etc

I usually just do that in html in notepad. Just go get yourself an html tutorial. It really isn't hard.

Yeah. what halicon said. <I remember in grade 8 when I first did html...>

Cool-looking websites aren't designed with html and css, they're designed in a graphics program. Then, they are coded with html/css.

That's how I would explain the process I do it on, I'm not much of a coder, actually I can't code to save my life, but I offer sites with a clear layout and which is cross browser compatible (at least that's what I've found). I'm not the world's best, but I do everything visually, as the OP would like to do it himself.

If you've seen you're not up to designing the site as you'd like, send me an email from my page greylid, I'll discuss your requirements and maybe we could make a deal (this isn't happening for everyone though).

tera ;)

That site doesn't work at all well in Firefox....Rather do it on Word than Powerpoint. Save as html.

Ya, it no work on Firefox:(
How? the same way i did it in Powerpoint? Can i import the one i did on Powerpoint to word or do i gotta start over again?:)Thanks

As far as I know there are limits to using the express version of their software. Both program-based and legal.

I would recommend Dreamweaver for web development! Also try and use PHP as it is free, as well as MySQL...! Microsoft is going way overboard with licensing costs!

Whooa, this guy's doing his first site and you're suggesting Dreamweaver > PHP > MySQL? That's going overboard! :D

Let's take it one step at a time. Some kind of wysiwyg editor like dreamweaver, but not dreamweaver, is your first step. Have a look at Kompozer - I haven't used it, though I did use its predecessor, Nvu. It's a graphical html editor - you won't need to know any html to get up and running.

But html is really not that hard. Someone else suggested w3schools - that is an excellent resource.
