Web sQuad ISP - Feedback Thread #2

As long as it doesn't carry to the end, it's most likely some sort of ICMP rate limiting.
Thanks.

Since yesterday's outage I'm having endless issues from all my WS sites to a Seacom IP.

EDIT: Nevermind, hardware issue. Resolved.

There have been huge issues on Openserve in my area (Garsfontein) since yesterday morning - specifically for Afrihost, Telkom and Mweb clients - but my WS line just keeps going - don't know what dark magic y'all are using but I'm buying!!!

Hi @websquadza IPv6 seems very broken.

@websquadza the ones that I listed are now working. Thank you.

I found some more that are not working: (they do work from our work network)

Thanks for this one, we found the issue here. Please let me know if all is in order?

my connection is terrible again but this time it's not the router.
loading webpages, emails, etc takes ages.

the experience is far worse this time around @websquadza

edit: apparently my light levels are all out of whack however they haven't change since the day I got my fibre installed.. hmm...
yet again being told that my light levels are abnormal even though they haven't changed since the day i got my fibre installed.

please take a look at my ticket when you can. @websquadza
Apart from my initial issues that began around wednesday, my line is now flapping

Thanks for reaching out. I chatted to the tech on your ticket. DB levels are on the low side, -25.7 dbm. That said, Evotel’s threshold is -28, and this would pose a more consistent issue, not a time specific issue.

The fact that your issue is time based points to some sort of backhaul issue. Oracle and Cloudflare are both locally peered, so the effect of the VPN seems to be to a) mitigate possible MTU or b) mitigate losses (due to ack/synack happening at the dc and retransmits being taken care of by warp).

We’re investigating this further. Evotel have no visibility on anything beyond your onu. Their portal is the only visibility they have, with L2 and backhaul being the responsibility of Reflex. This means that we have to build a conclusive case to get Evotel to escalate to Refelx to investigate their path (OLT to handover), which also means getting more cases. We’ve reached out to some other contacts to see if there are other similar issues. Our team will keep you updated on the ticket and also ask for more tests so we can conclusively isolate the issue and escalate.

Thanks for the detailed response, sent over some more tests.

Seems this will take some time before it's resolved. Plex, Geforce now and international DL all suffering during peak hours is such a pain.

Hope someone can help. Netflix has been useless the last week or so.

Fast.com gives me 51kbps, then jumps to 300kbps and sometime up to 160mbps.

I use the following DNS: 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.

Same results whether I'm on cable or Wifi.

MTU = 1492

MTR looks perfect to fast.com.

All other services seems fine and I get full line speed on speedtest.

Have you tried using your ISP's DNS

Mrs was moaning about the same

She usually downloads stuff onto her iPad to listen to at work, and been unable to this week, been to slow

Thought it was just the usual whining

Just fired up Warp and get 480Mbps on fast.com and Netflix now works perfectly on my pc. But obviously I can't install warp on all my devices.
