Web sQuad ISP - Feedback Thread #2

This looks like one of Vodacoms routers?? Make sure to disable remote management , if it is, and then burn it
Can't custom rom Huawei ONT/router.

What routing as an issue? Generally this is all plug-and-play with the WAN port on the router getting an IP from the port on the ONT that's bridged to your ISP - and your router giving your devices an IP over DHCP and then routing between the 2 networks.

However, glad you sorted. We use Websquad for our office and never had difficulty. Always runs smoothly.
The problem was all on their side, all my equipment was unplugged when they fixed it. I got told after ppoe authentication it was routing incorrectly.

Doesn't sound like a 3 day issue of being told it looks fine from their end now does it?

I haven't had issues in the past with websquad so I'm not jumping ship as I have enough to deal with. But I think people should know in case they hit similar issues.

Glad to hear your issue was resolved. I understand your frustration here. I’ve investigated this issue and it seems that your IP pool wasn’t changed over from CPT to KZN when your account was moved over. This should have been picked up by the service delivery and support teams a lot sooner. We’ll obviously look at how this was missed for so long, and work with the team to learn from this one; to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Welcome! Looking forward to having your line up and running!
Install is complete - just waiting on FF to provision then service should be good to go.

They installed this huge Calix ONT and it looks like it is also serving Wifi - anyone know what username / password id need to login to it and disable that (plus anything else) - i am running everything through my own router

Interesting to hear it’s also serving WiFi. Send us a ticket and we’ll reach out to ff to disable.

Anyone else having issues on Octotel this morning?
Had two outages of about 15 mins this morning where PPPoE dies totally, don't see anything on status pages yet?
Cape Town, Southern Subs.

Last update from Octotel at 8am this morning:

Octotel technicians are on site resolving a power issue affecting Rondebosch Node. Customers may still experience intermittent connectivity while resolution is underway.

Thanks came up and I see their resolution about 11:30 but just gone down again a few mins ago.
We received an update late last night saying that the issue has been resolved. So I think something must have still been problematic between 11:30 and 20:00. Looking more stable today?

Internet just went down Vuma Randpark, any known issues?
Not seeing any NWIs for this - closest NWI is a change control in Linden, but I doubt you're affected by this. Please can you log a ticket so we can track this and assist?

I'm in Pretoria and see that some TENET (ASN2018) IPv6 addresses will use the JB1 NAP exchange (which is expected), but some will go all the way to the CP1 NAP exchange even though they are in Gauteng. I had a look on the NAP JB1-RS1 looking glass and the routes are there and seems to be fine. The Web Squad looking glass IPv6 traceroute also shows the same addresses going the CP1 before entering TENET. Unfortunately its "IPV6 Routes" only have 2 routes, a default and the upstream interface and the "BGP Route" does not take IPv6 addresses. So I'm not sure how to debug this further.

Drop me a pm with the different prefixes affected? One for jhb and one cpt.

I'm experiencing network issues with Rocket League - ping stays constant, packet loss indicator flashes on screen. Haven't played in a while, so unsure when this started.

I haven't yet done MTRs - will attempt to capture an IP of a server when I play again.

Has anyone else noticed this or have any suggestions?

(Vuma aerial - North Riding in case it matters)

Evening, happy to look into this for you. Let me know if you manage to pick up any IPs and will see what we can find

Vuma trenched off Springs.
Vuma is becoming like Esdom.
Not reliable anymore.
