Web sQuad ISP - Feedback Thread #2

JHB: Services fully restored. Evening all, we picked up on an issue with our internal CGNAT routing, fixing that lead to some widespread issues due to a mis-applied routing policy. We rolled back and we're re-evaluating. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Hey @websquadza helping one of your clients: Ticket ID #671135
View attachment 1875226

I'll update his ticket as well, something is wonky there. You can pop me a mailer too if you'd like help with this one.
Howdy, besides the last mile loss (+-2%), wouldn't say wonky.
Ask the client to submit a ticket for packet loss, seems like his line may be faulty. Also seeing the 16% loss on first hop (which is his router), this could be rate limiting ICMP on the router, or a faulty router. try bypass the router and see if the last mile loss is still evident, then update the ticket.

I did update the ticket for him, preformed a reset on the router resolved the first hop PL issue. After your tiny outage client reported back to normal upload speeds. So something waaas wonky

I’m assuming the speed issues and packet loss lasted more that 15/20 mins? More likely they were fixed by the router reset. Check cabling as well.

well the mtr done after the reset showed no improvement, only after your massive blackout did the speed actually improve so maybe the issue was inside the network. No idea, just looking from outside in. Packet loss was halve the issue, the other of course from the ticket was irregular upload and higher than normal latency observed.

If it wasn't the reboot, then I'd say keep the ticket open and monitor further for FNO loss at hop 2, as the two events are unrelated.
