Google JHB - you're not going mad - thanks for your patience on this one.

It seems that there is indeed a Google issue, just one that our caches (GGC) were good at managing until they weren't and content started going stale. Google has drained advertisements in JHB and no longer serving traffic as of around 10am today, and seemingly pushing all traffic from international sources. The shift resulted in some ports taking on too much traffic, which we've now balanced better (@nelis your issue was related to this). This is a general issue for Google and will affect all Google traffic at NAP JHB.

Bad news is our GGC is now going stale, so most/all Google traffic is being served from international sources, which is not ideal.

We are monitoring closely. Update to follow

Update 14:00: GGC is now serving content at approx 50% traffic volume, we're hoping it's starting to backfill. Google has one peer up in JHB, but traffic still heavily offloaded to transit side.

Update 16:00: GGC traffic back to normal levels. Peering Traffic seemingly back to normal levels. Will continue to monitor, especially into the evening as Google traffic increases.

unbound (runs and hides)

results from DNSBenchhmark testing (Openserve PTA) - 192.168.5.1 is my router which then hands over to Unbound - there is some load balancing on the unbound IP so its not as fast as it was before the LB

No stress for the v6, is this from the same ubuntu VM? or from your PC? I see you're able to reach this server, can you perhaps check if the ubuntu server can too?

Guys, YouTube services acting up again, everything is buffering and loading at lower quality, something is definitly up
 
Been having some weird issues since earlier today.

I'm a bit disappointed by the responses in the ticket (#366545) that dont seem to acknowledge anything I say.
But this latest response is the most disappointing with me being given random info of a place thats literally on the other side of the country compared to where I currently am

Thank you for your patience. Please note that the backhaul vendor has notified us that services to Kraaifontein are affected by unplanned emergency maintenance at a damaged manhole in the area. Fibres are being respliced into a permanent new joint to ensure future stability. Due to the number of fibres being re-spliced (144), maintenance is expected to last 6-8 hours. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Thanks for letting me know about this. I've spoken to the tech who actioned this response, and he's acknowledged the lapse in judgement here - quick firing responses for a large outage and failing to read your issue thoroughly. We do apologise for this and we will make sure this does not happen again.

We are looking into your line issue and will revert with better feedback shortly.
