We've escalated to upstreams. As mentioned in a previous post, we've ordered alternative capacity and (hopefully) improved reliability, but this will take a few weeks. In the meanwhile, we're pushing on this - it's likely a TCP issue and slightly harder to diagnose.

Done and done.
Its very intermittent.
Some pages will load extremely slow, others not at all and others normally.
I have not made any changes on my router in months, and it only started happening mid morning. In my not so expert experience, that sounds a lot like what happens with a misconfigured MTU value.

Not sure why it could have suddenly become an issue.
So seems it's much the same as last time @websquadza ,so far we've unpatched/repatched 2 other houses and i'm still on somebody else's line, vodacom this time
Mate this has been my pet peeve for years!!!!! I have streamed iptv for so long, and can definitely tell you that a stupid R2000 Chinese phone with a data sim hot-spot connection to a media device and then streaming is perfect all day long!!! Hook up a 1 gig fibre line via a cat 6 network cable and its buffer for days.. Its ridiculous how the mobile network 4g can stream perfectly at much slower speeds and much slower pings... I have never understood it. As soon as 4g data sim cards are unlimited packages I am bye bye to fibre...@websquadza
Can you check my link to see why my IPTV is running so wonky. I'm on the 1gbit fibre
Initially i thought maybe it's just the stream that was slow or some settings like cache or something... (so i restarted my FireTV4k and my Tenda Router and the Fibre power)
I ran a speedtest and get over 350mbit from my FireTV4K. So the internet speed isn't too bad. However IPTV is not working well at all.
I found it strange that if i switch my FireTV4K to connect to my cellphone's Mobile hotspot LTE (vodacom LTE) which is only 30-35mbit on the speedtest. I get around 30mbit LTE speeds in my area yet it streams fine without any issues on LTE.
I switch back to my Fibre and it's slowness like crazy, it streams video for about 10seconds then pauses. Loads 30seconds then i can watch video for 20seconds then pauses.
but it used to be fine. not sure what happened over the weekend or my fibre or some ports are being limited or shaped. Something is not good right now. I can't watch anything. and it's not the server (switching to my Vodacom LTE or my brothers Telkom Sim works fine). Switch back to Fibre SSID and it's downhill.Mate this has been my pet peeve for years!!!!! Which iptv service?but it used to be fine. not sure what happened over the weekend or my fibre or some ports are being limited or shaped. Something is not good right now. It is also not the Wifi Modem, as i do have another Asus 1200AC wifi setup. I unplugged it connected a 15meter network lead to it, so that the wifi signal has direct line of site to my television(the Amazon Firestick TV 4k).
So technically i can connect from my TV via my Firestick4K to the Tenda 1200AC AP or the now closer Asus 1200AC.
I get 200mbit to Tenda +- , never had streaming issues before. Even when streaming 4K content.
Connected to Asus 1200AC i get around 350 to 360mbit due to it being closer.

Few of the Amazon one's. (it's not just one). Strangely i switch to my Hotspotted cellphone (on a vodacom LTE) then it streams perfecto. I tested it over 30min. No issues.Which iptv service?
Yip exactly the same experience I have had over the years. This was over couple of different ISP's too... But slap the data on the phone on and walla, no more buffering, or freezing etcFew of the Amazon one's. (it's not just one). Switch back to Fibre Wifi, streams 10seconds. Pause. freeze for 20seconds then shows video for 20seconds, then pause again. Then sometimes its so random freezes. Some channels are worse than other, i guess it depends if video is 720p , 1080p or 4K. but still. It streams fine on my 30mbit +- LTE.
not so fine on my 1gbit Fibre link. It's puzzling my mind. (i even tried different AP's to make sure maybe the Tenda Wifi has gone south... but that doesn't seem to be the case)
It's as if some ports are shaped or being speed limited or stream limited.
I can stream Youtube and Netflix fine, without issues.
Speedtests on my Fibre Wifi yield 350-360mbit speed (on the 1gbit link)
Speedtest on my S20 ultra on LTE only gets around 30mbit (my area doesn't have Vodacom 5G and signal only gets me around 30 to 35mbit).
Unless this is a speed issue or something to USA via my websquad fibre maybe. Where my vodacom LTE is not having that speed issue to USA. (if it's not shaped)
to me it looks like shaping...Yip exactly the same experience I have had over the years. This was over couple of different ISP's too... But slap the data on the phone on and walla, no more buffering, or freezing etc
I often claimed that it looks like shaping as well, as my paid service has always been top tier speeds however get this buffering, however all the isp claim their is no shaping or throttling on their packages.to me it looks like shaping...
but even so, on a 1gbit internet link 20-30mbit should not be a problem.
Cause when i switch to my cellphone LTE, it gives maximum 30mbit to 35mbit. So i guess most of the times it's streaming maybe 12mbit to 22mbit. That works 100%
