I have a theory:

When one upgrades to gigabit fibre, that then affects your light levels, as I definitely saw more equal performance between local and international on 50mb, 100mb and 200mb speed vuma.

4 back to back single to coreix

It might have something to do with line contention as well, which would be quite depressing if that was the case...

I also wonder if loadshedding is maybe affecting some sort of internal routing within Vumatel?

RD streaming is perfect I must say, it's just when you try a sustained download, it fluctuates between 5MB-25MB, with some bursts to 40MB.

I also just noticed cool ideas gigabit lite is only for 100Mbit international down... Maybe Vumatel changed something?

A bit worrying since I'm cancelling my 200/200 to move to WebSquad gigabit effective April 1st

I don't care about multithread.

How are actual downloads doing? Your RD downloads are all singlethread.

We're trying to understand the variance in reporting from speedtest.net - and it's not reflecting real world performance as you can see above.

Coreix on the other hand sending us return traffic via a longer route, which is odd (used to be quite direct). Will try work on influencing that.

No saturation on any links that would lead to any kind of contentions - we're literally running our transit links at 10% this morning. Just odd reporting from speedtest.net.

Shouldn't be - your link was always at 1 Gbps. Speed limits were set via software at a port level. Could be backhaul, but Vumatel trenched uses their own backhaul.

Ok, I was just referring to the poor speedtests, although it's not just coreix, its all of them.

Yes, I've seen 850 on single thread, multi about the same. I don't know if it's because I'm on a laptop.

Give me a day or so to set up an iPerf server in KZN and we can run some tests to see for any losses. Will make diagnosis easier.

On the Coreix side, give us some time to try steer that return traffic back via the old route and also to investigate why speedtest.net results vary so much.
