Apologies here, a weird upstream outage. Routes have restored, we've requested a RFO to find out what happened here.
An update here. It seems that there was a failure on a particular path to London which resulted in this flap.

Does anyone know if Octofail is doing any maintenance work in Southern Suburbs, CPT today? I've never been disconnected so many times in such a short period of time before. Literally 1 minute on, 2 mins off at the moment.

Apologies for the late response here. Looks like very bad packet loss on your line. Not seeing this to other clients in the area, so seems quite isolated. Will report on feedback.

Edit: L2 team have confirmed some maintenance on the Rondebosch node at the moment; stems from last month's big break

Thanks, I saw they posted an announcement that they were doing maintenance in Rondebosch this morning from 1am to 5am, but I got the impression that was finished. Seems like every maintenance makes things worse, I wouldn't trust Octotel to maintain a piece of string these days.

Nothing on official comms from Octotel support, ticket is still being "investigated". In the meanwhile, we've reached out to one of the L2 engineers directly to try get some answers here...

Still happening, but the bursts of complete loss are shorter so it's not as completely debilitating as earlier.

Yeah, this is during a download. Guessing my periods of ridiculous PL are connected to someone else in the area heavily utilising their line.

Am I the only one affected by this? Is it the Octotel installation in our building? Do we need to have Octotel come out to take a look? Surely if it affects everyone serviced by the Rondebosch node, there would be a ton of people experiencing this nonsense?

Literally a bit over 5 minutes later. HTF am I meant to use the internet like this? It's been WEEKS - can this not be run up the totem pole at Octotel @websquadza ?

Octotel scheduled emergency maintenance this morning from 1am to 5am clearly they still busy/ they broke something I saw this post on rocketnet rss feed
Rondebosch

Our engineers will be performing pon port maintenance in the node which will result in certain customers in the area to lose connectivity for 5mins. No more than 30 customers will lose connectivity at a time.

The maintenance is to alleviate any potential areas of concern, to ensure all connections are in spec for all customers to experience a solid stable connection.

Please see dates and time of the maintenance schedule below:

Date: Friday , 27th August 2021
Start time: 01:00am - 05:00am
Duration: 5 hours

The maintenance is schedule to alleviate all out of spec connections in the following area: Harfield Village - core 2 fibre infrastructure
