Web Squad ISP

Some peeps in my neighbourhood came back on recently as well but unfortunately we are still down, not sure if they are prioritising certain ISP clients on restoration
More likely depends on when your house got wired at the curb and where the strands sit in the bundles. It's like a hair transplant at this point

Did they share any pictures or context as to the reasons for the damage. Apart from the perhaps obvious idiotic reasons
Unfortunately not. Octotel are the only guys who send out "proof" to ISPs when Council takes a chunk of their ducts out the ground.

But I'd bet there are a bunch of guys sitting in vans on a street corner somewhere desperately dreaming of a well deserved cold one after a day like today.

Not that I'm by any measure a pro field splicer- but I tackled a fibre tray and dome joint (48 fibres each)- a full 10 hours for my amateur hands, some years ago; and I learnt a new respect for the guys who do this every day.

Any known issue in Vumatel Aerial in Florida, Jhb area?
Seems to have constant dns probe timeouts.

Restarted router and Pc

Just in case you’re in the Sandton area and without fibre today, you may be affected by this. This is what fibre techs got to last night at a manhole. Over 19 cables and likely a few hundred fibres cut. It’s quite sad to see that there are intentional incidents like the one below.

lol maybe they should invest in a small army, Had this discussion with Tarna, what's the point of MTN pouring 4.7Billion into backup and protection? Fund a small army with that money

We can’t see an endpoint on here- this is Coreix’s web page (so ICMP likely disabled). You mentioned DNS timeouts, so let’s MTR to a DNS server. Nothing up here shows a disconnection every minute or so.

Its been better since yesterday afternoon again so not sure that would give us much insight at this stage

Vuma Aerial also dead in Glenhazel/Sunningdale, JHB.

Any idea what’s going on?
Longest outage I’ve ever had. Can’t even log onto the website to log a fault.
Still down? No outages our side. Seeing a minor NWI for Glenhazel on Vuma status board which is still active since yesterday. You can also email [email protected]. What mobile network you on? Not seeing any issues on the site from Vodacom and MTN? Can’t test the other two unfortunately.
