So I bought a 1.5TB VPS in US
Setup nginx w/ Let's Encrypt
Put it behind Cloudflare's cache
Installed Transmission w/ performance config

So now when I download a .torrent file, it's automatically loaded onto Transmission and I can pull the file down from the server via the local CDN at line speed within minutes. It also works for HTTP/S files and can be expanded. Very happy to use this setup for responsible file transfers.
Rent a big private server, slap a cute name on it and you just started yourself a new business reselling that service :P

Why merica? Just a cost thing?

We used to rent seedboxes on the continent that it will serve in terms of seeding, because US->EU peering was shyte. I think you can rent seedboxes now for about the same price on both sides of the pond.

Sounds like a bit of graft?! You need to put together a tut on how you did this! Alternatively charge interested parties $20 to set it up for them, via remote desktop.

100% will be doing this and offering an added hosted service, but it wont be a public offer. So keeping to PMs and word of mouth.

What exactly is behind nginx?

It doesn't cache them, but loads them via their CDN which is massive and covers nearly all exchanges in the world, which essentially means my 1000Mbps local download comes from their JHB CDN instead of my server in the US which would cap at 200Mbit less TCP overheads.
Cool. Just curious as to how this works. I use cloud flare with my hosted server running all my services, and wanted to know if i could get this to work.
Thanks
PS dont let @websquadza know :rolleyes:

I first started using Cloudflare to bounce files back in the days of XBMC, it works very well & you could also put a Plex transcoder behind nginx for a more self-hosted Netflix service (@ghostR) which I could also offer.

I'm sure @websquadza knows of my shenanigans ;)

Yeah that what i used to have, i moved everything home now, because it was cheaper than paying for fiber and a hosted server as well.

Hi all. Very glad to read your comments on Websquad. I'm honestly not as advanced as you guys, so I just wanted to asked you if you are happy with the speed tests and such because I don't know how to read some of the tests. I'm placing my order with them this week, so I'm positive that they're the right ISP for me

Very happy. No issues at all.
Go for it!
