@websquadza please advise if there is still work being done for the infrastructure changes for Kempton Park vumatel trenched.

I have logged a ticked as well with my findings Ticket ID: 271997
There was a maintenance task in the area, but it's been marked as resolved. Most likely still related, I've asked the team to look into your ticket and provide feedback

@websquadza - anything going on at the moment?
Totally just lost connectivity to Github.com, although local sites and most other sites seem fine.

One of our upstreams had a network incident in JHB, our traffic has rerouted to alternate paths as soon as their BGP sessions dropped and drained.

There is a common upstream here.

Thanks, on point as always
Looks like it's flapping around a bit, was up for a while then dead again, now back.

Appreciate the info!

EDIT: Dead again

That's why I come to this thread, cause as soon as their cores go flat their phone lines are tied into that and you can't reach anyone. not even the NOC eng

Taken the affected upstream out of the mix for now, sessions are shut down until we know things are stable.

There is an NLD issue too, but we are on a failover path and looking stable. We are monitoring closely.

Update: As of about 3pm today, all upstream services have restored to normal operation and been re-introduced.

I need to bump my RouterOS version from 6.x to 7.x to get some extra VPN protocol support, and at the same time I was thinking about getting IPv6 setup. Is there anything that WebSquad needs to activate on a per account level or is it entirely a client router setup process as mentioned in https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/web-squad-isp.1007232/page-197#post-25774445
There is nothing to activate from our side - v6 is enabled by default for all clients. What FNO are you on? IPv6 is native on all PPPOE based networks, so you just need to enable a DHCP client on your PPPOE session - and only accept a prefix (we allocate a /56). Then add the allocated prefixes to your LAN interface(s). Also remember to firewall your IPv6 - enabling IPv6 on the box, then doing a system default reset will load a decent standard v6 firewall configuration. If you're on Vuma trenched, we can set up a 6in4 tunnel for you.

Thanks, I got an IP address working with DHCPv6 and was able to ping some random Australian IPv6 address so I feel like I'm on the right track. (Frogfoot, PPPoE etc)

Seems like Octotel is running a promotion? My speed just got upgraded from 100/100 to 200/200? Not sure when this happened, but just noticed my downloads were flying

Glad to know it's already pushed through! Yes, there's a double up promotion on Octotel links between 1 November 2022 and 28 February 2023.

Any reason why speedtest seems to think I'm in CPT and not JHB ?

We moved some IP blocks around recently- to more efficiently utilise our allocations. Unfortunately maxmind GeoIP services need multiple requests before updating their DBS. Our team is manually submitting requests once a week (that's all they allow) until this is updated.

Original message redacted pending the outcome of their support team's investigation
