Any known issues with vumatel in Jhb, specifically roodepoort/ florida?
Vumatel Aerial Bryanston has just gone down.
Vumatel - Internet down in Johannesburg
We're seeing all AEX related services down in Gauteng. This includes Evotel, Vumatel Aerial, Netstream, Openfibre and Zoom. We have reached out to AEX for more information.

Edit: It seems that only a portion of AEX related services are down, within Gauteng. Vuma Village services and some areas still up. Seeing multiple ISPs affected. Awaiting response from AEX and Vumatel's NOCs.

JHB Update: Vumatel have acknowledged the fault and have also indicated that the issue is a larger Gauteng issue with the AEX network. Teams are already investigating. No ETR provided as yet.

Update: It seems to be a dual backhaul break, likely between Reflex/AEX's DC in Rosebank and Teraco Isando.

Update: Teams are still investigating. No ETR as yet.

JHB Update 17:45:

Connectivity Path A: Backhaul provider technicians are localising the point of break
Connectivity Path B: Backhaul provider technicians have identified the location of the break and are enroute to evaluate

Thanks for the update, any reason as to how 2x breaks happened on (I'm assuming here) 2x geographically different backhauls?

You know what they say about assumptions ?
I'll pry a little to find out more about the outage; but these are physically diverse routes from Rosebank to Isando.

JHB Update: Services are restored and traffic levels look good, work is still ongoing though:

Connectivity Path A – Backhaul provider technicians tested and found another break that they are localising

Connectivity Path B – Backhaul provider technicians have repaired the fibre.

International performance falling off a cliff for anyone else tonight as well?

Try stay away from local ISPs with their own servers, this is locally peered traffic and basically they carry the traffic back and forth. Try something transit specific like CoreIX or even Digital Ocean

Much better now for me as well.

Had a lot of lag in Apex Legends earlier as well, but things seemed to have normalized now.
Glad to hear it. Will look into CPT stats to see if I can pick up anything

Ah good point, I'm just so used to selecting the Vox Server in London, having been with them previously :)

My international speeds are still terrible.

My fibre dropped again this afternoon, after about 1hour.

My equipment is up and working (as my backup power will run it for 4hours without issues, solid) but the fibre connection drops from somewhere else.
