Want to do one more thing from my end - restart the CPE. It's not been off in literally months now :)

Will log a ticket if there is no improvement.
Unsurprisingly this was the issue...

Back to normal now - should've tried this in the first place :D

internet still goes up and down but not as frequently as over the weekend

Things are hella unstable this morning

I know we usually ignore your first hop and look onwards, and this is definitely between you and our handover - but those hops also drop ICMP requests, so it's almost impossible to tell where this is originating. Can you try bypass your router and get a trace for me?

Our office is on the same master note (Parklands) as you and @Zodiak, and we haven't seen the same, but there are also smaller pops hanging off the master node, where this may be presenting.

No core/transit issues at the moment. Do you have a MTR? Area and FNO?
no MTR results as it happens randomly from time to time like can be hours in between or minutes. Also it sometimes only drops from like a few seconds Area is Pretoria, Lynnwoodridge, openserve

Also seeing some weirdness this morning, Google meets calls intermittently saying bad connection, YouTube struggling to load intermittently. Currently just says I'm offline on mobile.
Can't seem to narrow down the exact issue though, speedtests seem fine...

Please try grab a MTR, or confirm if PPPOE is dying? You can log a call too. Not seeing any dips across the core or affecting Openserve clients with lots of Openserve sessions sitting at 1 week+ uptime.

As per the above, we aren't seeing any weirdness on the network. Let's start with basic checks; are you running on LAN or WiFi? Area and FNO?

I did yesterday to a site in the uk as an example

had to do it on my phone , as on the pc it would simply say site not found
Can we have one today please?

Yesterday's issue was related to a transit fault. One of our upstream vendors flapped BGP sessions due to a loop on their network late yesterday afternoon. This is the same vendor that did maintenance in the early hours of the morning.. Routes re-converged and this takes a few mins each time. However the vendor resolved this issue. There have been no further flaps, and their BGP sessions have been stable today. So drops today would be unrelated.

@DarkSt0rm's MTR shows his traffic dropping before even reaching us - pointing to a Vuma issue.

The issue with everyone saying "me too" without tangible results, is we all assume issues are related - it's a danger of a forum like this. We are actively trying to assist on the forum, and if there's an issue our side, I'll be the first to acknowledge it - but we do need constructive input and tests.

Thank you for confirming. Interesting your Mik showed 1 gbps. I wonder if the SFP (fibre) interface dropped to 100M. Haven't seen that before. My Vuma CPE at home drops to 100 Mbps about once a month, and needs a little nudge.

Will monitor when i get home tonight and see if it dies again

hmm, weird, maybe I am imagining things, it just doesn't feel like normal. The home page of the YouTube app on mobile won't load at all, although other stuff seems normal currently, the page not loading does feel like DNS not being able to resolve but I don't have any way to confirm.

Ignoring WiFi entirely, here's a trace to youtube.com from my gateway, seems fine though. Is there a better location for me to test to? Using 9.9.9.9 for DNS. Octotel, Southern Subs, CPT.

Thanks for this
MTR looks clear. Definitely not imagining things, just trying to isolate the potential cause. Desktop youtube loading fine? Do you have IPv6 enabled on your router? Also try swapping DNS to cloudflare 1.1.1.1

Yeah, the router will drop all ICMP traffic. I can't today, literally in back-to-back meetings all day, but I'll try tomorrow morning. Picking up loss again to the UK, which is being a bit problem given 1/2 our infrastructure runs off LON1
