WebAfrica Capped ADSL

Lag Any one?

Battlefield 4 performance really sucks at the moment!

I am having huge lag problems...ping to server in Cape Town was 45 / 49
They changed my account to the trial Business ADSL: 5GB Pro account from the Capped 40 gig + 80 gig after hour account.....to see if the lag would go "away"....

well it did not go away as they had hoped...sometimes it felt like it was worse....

The guy's that host the BF4 hardcore server in Cape Town changed their server today to a new one and my ping came down to a constant 23....

BUT the LAG was the worst that i have had thus far, making it impossible to play...it was like being at a MAGIC show...now you see the enemy and then he is gone...FRUSTRATING to say the least....

Now i am asking the question?....what is causing this....had no problems up until June of this year and i was "bumped" up to a 2MB line....
WA have asked Telkom to reset the DSLAM at the exchange and still no improvement.....perhaps it is time to look elsewhere....

Post your line stats.

Also have you tried trial accounts from any other ISPs?

NNTP runs at close to line speed as possible between 00h00-06h00 so you will have no problems there. Shaping of NNTP happens during business hours (07h00-17h00 weekdays). We have a free account for customers to test at link here (just move slider to the 2gb account)

I signed up for one of your capped accounts, and at 10pm at night was getting 600KB/s on a 20MB line. After midnight it remained the same, and I kept it running till 1am. This was using my international NNTP server, and trying various ports and SSL.

When I swopped over my AH Business account, I got full 20MB line speed.

The shaping I saw on a brand new account does not match this at all.

I was wondering if any webafrica techies could look into something for me. Whenever I play eve online (especially during the day) I notice some really bad latency response times and it fluctuates badly. Now it only seems to be this 1 game, when I play league of legends I get a constant 185ms+-. Is it possible that the eve online ports have not been categorized as gaming hence the bad latency?

Hey guys, any word on this?

Can one downgrade a capped account and then summarily cancel it so that for the notice period month you're paying the price of the downgraded account, or is downgrading also subject to the 30 day notice period?

Getting all kinds of DNS errors on many websites with WA.
Have switched to OpenDNS for now and all is fine.

I've never used ISP DNS servers. Used to use Google dns, now I use Unotelly, which is also Google DNS for things not supported.

Same, a few international sites and MYBB cant be accessed with my web Africa account

EDIT: Problem still there

I'm experiencing the same issues on my end, extremely frustrating. A number of sites aren't accessible — sorry if this is a really simple thing, but how exactly does one change their DNS? Is it in the router settings? And should I be looking at this as a temporary solution or a permanent one?

EDIT: Sorry, to be clear, I'm experiencing it on my uncapped ADSL account with them.

Yes you change it in your router. Just look for the dns settings usually under the wan tab. It is probably set to manual. Uncheck manual and enter either the opendns or the google dns server addresses. Then apply settings. You can use them permanantly if you are happy with the speed.

Don't you mean auto as in auto assign from ISP and should change it to manual?
