So far so good...

I have tested YouTube and I get perfect 1080p, and HD Netflix as well...

Still have to test http downloads and p2p, but so far it's looking promising

Some more feedback... Nvidia drivers downloading from HTTP at 10:00 this morning ran 900kbps all the way from start to finish. Torrents however are not going faster than 25kbps at this stage...

You'd be hard-pressed to get torrents loading fast during office hours :)

One solution I implemented was to rent a server with 600gb disk space where I load all my torrents on and download them in my own time at full speed.

That's disappointing for a capped account... :-(

OpenWeb does not offer more than 100Gb where I need at least 400Gb a month :/

Not really. Business hours are always shaped for protocols like p2p with any ISP and priority is given to others. After hours torrents fly. Like I said, it's worth while to rather switch to a seedbox and HTTP all the time. You then don't run the risk of being prosecuted like that poor sap in Cape Town is currently.

Not true.

IS resellers use their own shaping policies. WA capped is shaped.

Openweb freedom capped is unshaped:

I get the same result using AH capped data.

So they are not all equal.

EDIT: This is on a 4mb line.

I downloaded around 4 gbs of torrents last night between 12:00 and 06:00 and I got full line speed all the way. I'm happy to run a scheduler on my downloads and kill the 'night time' data portion.

WA announced some really nice deals today:

http://www.webafrica.co.za/home/ads...edium=728X90&utm_campaign=capped_cuts_feb2014

I see that there are Home and Business options available. Does this mean that the Home accounts are shaped?

IS the home capped shaped in any way?

The Home Capped accounts bandwidth is prioritised as per our KB article and due to P2P being 'best effort' you might notice a drop in P2P speeds during the day as other protocols take priority during the day but after hours it should be back to normal. Business accounts will get full P2P speeds during the day.

I have signed up for the 60GB + 60Gb, I'm really hoping that it's a full speed minimal/no shaping connection that will give me the full benefit of my 10mbps line!

If not, I will make use of the money back guarantee.

Glad to hear you've signed up for an account :)

:D Thanks WA I now have 240Gigs worth of data a month this just made my day ;)

Oh boy! 130GB extra for nada! Thanks! Hope it performs well.

These prices are scary good.As an existing home capped user I am very happy with the speeds.

I hope sufficient bandwidth provision has been made for what could be a significant uptake.

I hope there is sufficient, but then again it's IS and they should have plenty seeing that some resellers are now with MTN.

Quick feedback : I gamed for about an hour online between 7 and 8pm and ping (latency) was a steady 180-195ms max. to Germany. So much better than any other ISP's I've tried. But I guess it also depends on where in SA you are.

Everything else seems to run 100% too. But need to test during office hours still... so far so good.. very happy :)

Thanks for the feedback guys! :D Our network has more than enough capacity available for the expected uptake so no need to worry about that affecting your experience :)

Is the home capped shaped using the star system or webafrica's own policy?

Our capped accounts do not make use of any throttling system only our Bandwidth priority profiles.

Poor choice of words on their part "Double Data Promotion". I'd suggest a WA* person clarifies asap whether this is permanent. It looks like it is intended to be, but some clarification would be nice.

It's definitely permanent HavocXphere. No limited promotional time period.

It looks like our exchange may be up for upgrade to VDSL shortly. Just wanted to confirm - do these accounts (theoretically) go at full line speed? Has anyone ever successfully used a capped account at say, 40mbps?

WA is shaped a bit more than I would like. I spent the better part of the last 2 days testing the 5gb trial and I'm not too impressed to be honest.

The nail in the coffin for me, was when I couldn't stream higher than 480p on Netflix. It's a big one for me. On a 10mb line I expect more...

No congestion, no line issues... Switched to another ISP and off she went. HD on Netflix and all back to normal.

Note to WA : if you gonna sell a capped product it MUST be unshaped 24/7

That's disappointing to hear, after all the "Titanium" this and "Unthrottled" that. Are these new capped accounts on the same priority level as the trial accounts?

Question to WA guys - I've got the Red 30gb deal @ R199.00. Under what does this bandwidth currently fall - Home or Business? Desperately need more bandwidth but have been happy with the service I got out of the Red deal, so don't want to downgrade on the quality of the bandwidth.
