Hi, I had bad lag and connectivity issues while playing Guild Wars 2 last night from around 9pm. Changing over to my TelkomInternet account made little difference. Might it be related to the issues mentioned above?

I've also been having brief periods of what feel like lag, but upon checking the latency in Win7 Resource Monitor app (no idea how accurate it is), it appears mostly normal. Might be related to the NTP DDOS I've hearing about lately...

I'm in the Durbanville area.

Hi detritus,

Can you PM me your customer code or email address linked to your account and I will get our team to troubleshoot the issue.

I am also having problems with Guildwars 2.

When downloading the patch the speed keeps dropping till it reaches 0kbs and then for a brief moment bursts to 80kbs and drops again.

Im on 4mbs btw

-EDIT-

nvm seems to be problems with the games download servers

Web Africa Cheap Home Capped ADSL accounts carries a lower priority in bandwidth during business hours

You can check for more information here: How is the traffic prioritised?

I'm using their Home Uncapped, but also have prepaid GB's on the capped. The capped is obviously a bit better (same quality as their business uncapped accounts), but a business capped account carries a bit more priority as I said.

If you're thinking of moving, try the trial first. You'll get a good feel of if the account is good enough for you

Any idea where news servers fit into that list of protocol priorities? Trying to decide between home and business capped and my download usage is usually news servers.

Does WebAfrica have their own news server or will I need to factor in the cost of a paid news server?

Try the home account and upgrade to the business account if need be. You can use news.is.co.za

Yes, we do have our own news servers at news.wa.co.za or you can use the news.is.co.za. This falls under P2P protocol and I would recommend a business capped account if your main focus is P2P downloads and you need it to run full tilt anytime of the day.

Thanks. On your website it shows "best effort" for P2P under all "bandwidth priority profiles" so I can't see how I would benefit from business over home? It'd just cost me more. I see I would benefit in all other categories. Am I missing something in this regard?

Where does YouTube, Hulu, Netflix etc fit into your categories? All under video and audio streaming I presume? In this regard business capped would be beneficial at "very high" priority vs "high" on home capped but it is still tough to quantify this. Will it mean unusable on high priority during the day? I know the argument is put forward to get a trial account and find out myself but I never know whether the trial accounts have the same priorities.

One final thing. Do your capped accounts automatically switch over to the "download plus" data after 12am or is a manual switch necessary on my side?

I appreciate your assistance.
