We are here for the long-term and thus by principle do not react without comprehensive understandings. We operate off data, not trends, and are certainly not going to slap something together to satisfy short-term pressures. We stand for quality and reliability and unless we can guarantee these we will never commit ourselves down a path that may compromise this for our customers.

I can't understand why people stay with Web Africa, they have already said they are an ISP for the uneducated mom & pops and they won't be lowering their prices.

When every other ISP dropped their prices to R50.00 Web Africa's CEO said it will pretty much be the standard per gig pricing. Then came Afrihost and WA started with their "not sustainable" bs.

And to top it off Web Africa responded by dropping their per gig price by R1.00

People need to start voting with their wallets maybe then greedy ISP's like Web Africa will realise that losing customers simply is not sustainable.

That being said there will still be a place for capped accounts in the market, as you can't deliver the same level of reliability or speed due to the nature of uncapped.

There is a place for capped accounts, and those are for low usage users - like the moms ands pops you are trying to exploit. But then they should be using Afrihost at R29 a gb instead of your ridiculous pricing.

As for uncapped, maybe you should use the same internet you sell and see how the rest of the world manage just fine with uncapped accounts that are running at 25, 50 and 100Mbs. They dont have any complaints, and the excuses you dream up sound more like someone trying to save face after embarrasing themselves with ridiculous pricing.

I would love to see this succeed but to all those naysayers I remind you that even if this only lasts 4 months or so I would have already downloaded almost 200 GB from my 384k uncapped. That would have cost me R2400 at WA but it didn’t. So I am happy. I signed up the first day and I’m at 40g already with only a 384k.

Yes I know its allot and if I could I would go for 1T with a 4m line, buts it’s just because I have eaten bread for years now I get the cake. It’s human nature.

Looking at how everyone is like rabid dogs all over an ISP with even the slightest sense of an inferior product, i'm starting to think it is best that WA don't do anything.

Everyone is already walking all over Afrihost due to their rather "sensible" aka "sustainable" throttling system. Now Afrihost is suddenly the scum of the earth with WA, and no one seems to see the irony and stupidity of all this? Freaking bunch of impatient hooligans on this forum i tell you, i am sure i'd crack doing business on this forum.

So i'll just wait for a good solid capped solution from WA or Afrihost instead. Still waiting for a nice +- R300 price bracket solution with about 30GB

Judging by the knee jerk responses I would hazard to guess that most of these users are the prepubescent teens still at school trying to prove to everyone that they're cool. It's a pity this forum doesn't have an age restriction like only over 25yrs. We would certainly have more civil and business related discussions without the wet dreamers having hissy fits.

It is getting tiresome now. If Afrihost had come out and said uncapped was not viable they would have suffered a vitriol of abuse like WA. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I'm over 25 and I completely disagree with you. The young dudes are getting brighter all the time. I even think waroop is under 25.

That said... WA 'kyk die kat uit die boom uit' before they take the plunge, and I commend them for it.
Have had many great experiences with their local IS 10/30 gig accounts giving me 10/30 gig International out of them, latency wise ((in my experience)) they have been great to me.

I have a friend who works for their tech department, and he has exclaimed that they want to test viability of this first, so what if it gives them a bad name to the 'hogs' out there ? - the only reason you want uncapped is to rape the system anyways (yes I am a hog too, and 300gig/m is fun)
Maybe they surprise us and bring a different offer to the table, regardless - if they do or don't - they will always keep the clients who have been impressed by service levels and general go-getter attitude.
