Good evening

I am having the most horrible time with WebAfrica at the moment, just recently acquired (Nov 07) the DSL Bronze package from them. Up until last night the service was good with little to no complaints at all.
Then last night the trouble started:
First checked my DNS, tried a few SAIX DNS servers, ping got a reply. Net worked for all of five minutes. Then connection dropped again, checked router logs. Showed dropping and syncing continuously (approx every 5 mins).
I lodged the fault with WA's "friendly" tech support, the dude stated it was not an account fault and he would lodge the job with Telkom and report to me on the progress.
This afternoon Telkom arrives to check out the problem. And leaves saying the line is now fixed, since his laptop worked fine. He also checked my router for any trouble, found none.
So this evening I try again and still no net, same trouble as before. Then I called WA's "friendly" tech support. Where the dude gives me attitude saying I just lodged the call yesterday. This pisses me off and I say as much, to which he laughs in my ear and sarcastically says "Let's do the Maths." He then proceeds to tell me that it can never be an account issue and it's a Telkom issue. I reply I know as much and that he should get them to come and fix it again. Still laughing he says yeah he'll do it.

Amazing how tech support didn't even bother to find out why I wasn't syncing or kept dropping. The only lines I heard was "It's Telkom's fault." and "I'll report this matter for you."

Currently my telephone calls are filled with popping and crackling noises. (which wasn't there before this evening)

My SNR Margain ranges from 30.8 db (downstream) to -8.6db (downstream), continuously the SNR Margain changes between this range. As far as my knowledge goes, the range should not drop lower than 12db for a stable connection.

Anybody have suggestions or comments on how to approach WA and Telkom to have this trouble resolved ASAP. As currently I have no faith in WA's tech support and find their lack of assistance appalling.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Huskyboi

Hi there Huskyboiza,

I'm sorry to hear you've had to endure a negative experience with us. I'll forward this onto our specialists to review right away for you, so we can get this fixed.

In the interim could you pm me your client code or adsl username pls.

...this has been an ongoing thing since the dawn of the modem - not the isp but the line, not the line but the hardware and so on. [yes i have worked the call center slave pits too]

that remark in the side - I am sure that waroop will get you fixed, he will as he always does :)

I wouldn't be surprised if its in their job description to watch the forums (especially these forums) but that's a good thing.

Because 1000's of people come and go off myadsl daily, any forum posts that could be bad publicity for them are fixed... which is good - keep it up WA! :)

I would like to however say that I've been using them for a long time now, I've never had a bad run in with anyone there at WA yet.
