Yo.

Thought some of you might want to know. Ahh, who knows maybe I just wanna bitch about something. :p

NOT being a long running WebAfrica client, however, the following needs to be said.

I signed up for a 30GB Account during last month (taking advantage of the last of the last) Previously was an uncapped user (Very happy but in effect couldn't really afford it) :D

Then towards the end of the month received an email regarding the account changes (i.e 30GB down to 10GB @ R570).

Edit: The account changes were expectede due to recent TOLLKUM mods.

Opted to accept the "verti"-grade to 10GB and accepted such via the email on my account and chose the 10GB option. (the mail directed me to my client area) :)

Was pretty unhappy with the change, however realised fully where it was coming from, (SHOT TELSKUM!) opted to go for the 10GB account with WebAfrica, as I WAS pretty damn happy with their services thus far.

However! and it is a pretty big HOWEVER for me......(for my measly bucks)

At 00:20 on Nov 01, I was still getting authentication failed from WebAfrica..... ODD! (And this after being disconnected at just about 00:00 on the DOT) Waiting with auth failures is not at ALL what I expected, after I had responded to their email regarding the account changes and was "told" that nothing would change - except for the cap.

Not exactly service, considering it is from a service provider.

Fairly odd.

NEways, have now made another plan.

FLAMES accepted AT WILL

You frustration is completely understandable. Looks like at this stage a Radius issue with the new format. Richard's coming in to have a look now.

Hopefully it should be up ASAP.

An official response from an ISP at 00:45: Impressive :D

And poor Richard has to mission to the WA offices at THIS hour in the COLD in C.T. CITY CENTRE?! shamepies man :)

Aparently its RSN (real soon now) status

Hell I'll be even more impressed if they actually fix it !

Maybe that big ON/OFF switch was located in the WA offices ...........

Guys, there will be glitches during the course of the night, it's understandable. Many ISP's have to switch users over to new username structures, or change their internal systems, etc. WebAfrica seems to be one of these, and it's not their fault, surely. Such settings take a bit of time.

Patience :) It's an adjustment for all of us.

I feel your pain, again, wamatt. If I could say one thing to all clients with problems, "keep the faith" :)

No , in Webafrica. Look what is happening, with Telkom changes, everyone doing ACTUAL work is getting slandered.

We all know the reason of possible problems, all the time, with SAIX. Its not the ISP, its Telkom/SAIX. This is just another example.

I have not seen any slandering, some valid complaints Yes. The system is dead, should we rejoice. The ISP's is not to blame Bl@@dy Telkom is. no matter what is happening now, Telkom is the cause, the ISP the effect and the consumer the loser, Yet again

Yeah well tried to log into my SAOL account several times. Got the invalid username box and thought great here we go I have no email adress at the mo and would have to wait until later this morning to phone them and sort it out.

Got an sms on my mobile a few minutes later saying that my account was activated and evrything is sorted now.

Looks like its Telkom problem afterall. sigh

A number of senior techies have been called out of bed..

I think it affected us more because we synchronise our disconnects at midnight (to ensure more accurate stats).

What we've managed to get out of one of the Telkom technicians is:

"The disconnections are caused by a massive backlog on the radius authentication requests"

Looks like everyone is connected now.

According to the nightstaff at Telkom it was across the board (Mweb, TelkomInternet, etc). Basically at 12:00 there was a huge influx of RADIUS data that they had to process (something to do with the 1 nov change).

Since we run uniform 24hour sessions from midnight it affected us the most. :(

As matt pointed out, our services are now back up and running. It's really difficult trying to diagnose any particular problem (especially given the extensive changes we had to make for November 1st) when things like this happen and we can't be sure if it's our fault or Telkom's (luckily though apparently it was a Telkom issue).

We apologise for any inconvenience this downtime may have caused and hope to not have a repeat in the future.

:) Tonights problems have once again illustrated that WebAfrica understand what customer service is all about.

Thanks guys!
