Weber Braaing

a buddy of mine bought a 2nd hand Q series and whenever I see him he is using it, even for breakfasts, he got a bargain for R800. I looked at new prices other day and choked on my beer
Checkers at times have specials. Plus eBucks.

A Q what, because I have a Q3000 and it's 10x that on special :(

A question for anyone that has bought a Weber recently. Is the build quality any good on yours?

I bought a new Weber in July this year. It arrived and I assembled but the quality of the nuts weren’t great. The Weber was unstable and I felt the nuts were of very poor quality.

My handle was so loose on top of the lid, the one used to drag/pull the Weber was loose too.

My previous version was solid as a rock for over 10 years.

Yeah mine is exactly the same.. everything wobbles around.

I bought mine brand new in December 2017 and it is rock solid after assembling it

I suppose you get a weber and then you get A WEBER... entrylevel and executive versions.

I bought a cadac (not entry level) a few years ago and it's been very solid.

I got an entry level one a few years ago (probably around the same time Papa Smurf got his) and it's rock solid.

Did you tighten the nuts properly? Serious question...

Gotta agree there, it can only be wobbly if the nuts are loose.
Mine is the 53cm and it was on a 1 day special at Pick n Pay here for R999 and I grabbed that opportunity quickly, I've never seen anywhere advertise it at that price since then. Doesn't have the proper ash catcher, just the VW Beetle hubcap but that's good enough for the price

That hubcap's been working fine for me for years. Yes if the wind picks up it's annoying, but eh.

Ive had no issues with my hubcap, those 3 fasteners on the 3 legs hold it up pretty well. Only complaint is when the wind does pick up it starts blowing the ash out of my hubcap and straight into my lounge. I need to come up with a mod as an aftermarket ash catcher

yeah so i'll try and explain it.

the chrome steel pipes that you click in at the bottom is loose in the housing on the bottom of kettle so if you move it, it wobbles.

The lid screw could potentially be a bit loose bit that is pretty minor in the great wobbliness of the rest of it.

My dad also has one of the original webers and that one doesn't not wobble around, it also feels more solid that mine weirdly.

Here you go @bwana
On special today

Thanks but I've got a potjie attachment for my gas bottle already.

It's a smoker. The Weber is a kettle. It's like asking how a bakkie differs from a bike. Both will cook food, but in very different ways.

IMO the Weber is more versatile. The smoker is pretty much that - a smoker. With a Weber you can smoke, you can braai, you can cook, you can bake, etc.
