Weight Loss Thread 2014

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works. Great video on Ted.com relating to the problem with dieting.

http://www.ted.com/talks/sandra_aamodt_why_dieting_doesn_t_usually_work.html

Okay, so I've watched the video, I'd like to follow up and find some of the studies she refers to. At this point whilst I agree with the concept of what she says in terms of how the brain controls hunger etc. I think what she's missing is the link in terms of the way the body responds to the the different food types and the neurochemical response, i.e. carbs are more likely to trigger the hunger response than fats.

What Tim Noakes talks about (and I still need to research further) is the appestat, which I understand is possibly that part of the hypothalamus that she was referring to, and how it can become damaged due to poor nutrition, specifically too much carbs. I do like what she says about mindful eating, however for me the mindfulness also goes to understanding how your body actually works from a nutrition perspective as well as how it responds to different food groups.

Just a FYI for those interested, mentioned yesterday I had sleep troubles since Saturday. Back fully into my exercise routine, so pushed hard yesterday with the workout and I slept like the dead. So starting to think it is the increased energy levels keeping me awake that contributes to the problem...will keep track of it.

Well, I have now set myself to lose around 6.5 KG's by my birthday, which is in March.

No idea if this is reasonable, but it's something to work towards. :)

As of today, I am 81.8 KG's.

Height is 1.8 metres, which I don't expect to change. :p

Good thing I'm not dieting.

*sips 4000KJ breakfast coffee*

750ml of coffee
4 tablespoons of butter
4 tablespoons of coconut oil
2 tablespoons cream

yeahhhhh!

Heartattackmocha?

Are you the stripper for your birthday :p

Yes, if you think that dropping my bodyfat from 17% to 12% increased my risk of a heart attack...

*rolls eyes*

It's like a repeat of last year lol...

Chill. Whatever works for you. I think people that hang out in gyms all day are worse of than those slobbering on waffles and syrup even if they do live to be 5 years older :p

People wanting to be added to the front page, PM me please, I know one person has already. Have a good day all.
