Weight Loss Thread 2014

I am. Started working out after losing 16kg.

Using Nutritech because it is the best value for money I can find.

Did a bit of Lindt stocking up yesterday - should last our household until the end of the year at our current nibble rate. And before my fellow OCD peeps start maoning about number 16 missing - there were only 15 on the shelf at Woolworths! lindt.JPG

Cheap is not good. Be careful of contamination and impure protein.

If I may add - I now live my life by asking "how close is this food to its original state before man touched it?" before I put it inmy mouth. Lindt dark chocolate is the most processed food I eat now and it is very pure and natural. If it comes in a can \ container I won't touch it! REAL food!

I used to be a junk food whore - addiction of note. In the early weeks of banting, I still ate bunless Double Quarter Pounders - now, after watching how they bleach the meat to get rid of ecoli - I ONLY eat fresh meat from a trusted butcher!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I am also. Sometimes I don't have the energy or will to eat more whole foods til I meet my protein level for the day.

Woolies now sell low-carb cauliflower topped Cottage and Shepherd's pies for those on LCHF. A bit expensive at R45 but very convenient.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday with a hot air balloon trip and a day around Harties.

Went completely overboard with the carbs and today I'm regretting it. Waffles, pizza, chips, milkshakes and ice cream.

Upset stomach and pounding headache today. Dead tired as well.

Raises a few points for me.

Question: does the concept of "cheating" exist in LCHF?
How detrimental is cheating?
How do you recover from it?

/edit congrats. How many years of torture have you endured

I don't really call it cheating because there really was nothing else to eat at the places we visited.

I doubt one day's wayward eating will have any noticeable or long term effects. Especially since it is the first time in many months that I actually had any sugar and a fair amount of carbs.

I was straight back on the saddle the Monday morning. So recovery already done in my mind.

I'm not really trying to lose any more weight. Working out now and trying to gain as much lean muscle as possible.

Married 4 years, been together for 11. I'm used to the torture by now. ;)

It depends on your definition of cheating whilst on LCHF, if you have decided that you just want to reduce carb intake but are not fussed about getting into ketosis then the odd carb refeed is probably okay and won't have too much of an impact, however, if you want to be in a constant state of ketosis then "cheating" as in excessive carb intake that drops you out of ketosis is best avoided.

So for myself I'm not fanatical about being in ketosis, but I keep my carb intake as low as I reasonably can, not a problem when I'm controlling my own intake and every once in a while I have the odd carb based meal (e.g. a pizza)

If however I look at the last 2 weeks where I was overseas and it was difficult to maintain LCHF I had already mentally decided to allow myself to enjoy carbs again (and suffer the consequences, heartburn/reflux, bloating and picking up 2kgs) :( :D

So this week in order to recover I'm really cutting carbs to an absolute minimum

Same here, had to go for an operation and ate hospital food for a couple of days..also picked up 2kg in the process, which I've since shed.

I had 2 compliments yesterday that I look slimmer - that felt really great. Also noticed my pants is loose at the waistline and my belt is at it's last notch, will need to punch extra holes now:)
Lost 10kgs in 6 weeks...
