Weight loss

just something that might help,

for those trying to keep track of what and how much they eat, use this site http://www.myfitnesspal.com/

Been using it for a while, can set goals, enter measurements and keep a food diary.
Has a lot of local foods on the database as well.

Puts into perspective what you put into your body, esp amounts of sugar/carbs are in the food you eat.

:)

depends on the brand/type, get one with low sugar and low fat.

The dairybelle "In Shape" are really good, low sugar, and fat free, also really really tasty

I got PnP fat free because it was cheap :D

Only had 1 doughnut today instead of my usual 4. Dammit. I'm suffering here

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
I hear that's what they say...

How do you feel after 4 doughnuts but the way?

I just had a burger patty :/
Did the same with dinner last night. Trying to cut out carbs so didn't have any Pap

Except coke? Lol funny how life works; I was skinny for most of my life and barely into my mid-20's I start picking up weight.

As for the doughnuts.. I feel satisfied :o. Sleepy though. Almost like the feeling you have after drinking your first sip of coke.

In regards to calorie counting heres a quick run down of info.

4kj = 1Kcal
7000Kcal = approx 1kg fat,

Almost all food will have "energy KJ" labels

Find out your BMR (Basal Metabolic rate) there are webistes for this
This displays calories burned by being alive. You'll prob have a number around 1600 and up depending on gender and size.

From here you adjust for activity level, calculator of BMR will usually do this for you:

1600BMR + 500 (Daily activity)
2100Kcal

Then from here adjust a deficit for how much weight you want to lose for example 1KG per week

7000Kcal/7
1000Kcal per day.

This is a large deficit so introduce running.

600kcal eating defecit
300kcal 1hr Jogging

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The are just rough figures but gives you the basic ideas of structuring calories. Remember a large calorie defecit from food can be unhealthy. As a rule of thumb never go below your BMR

On the topic of yogurt, try a few before settling on one. For me Fabulite from Parmalat tastes the best, followed by InShape and Woolies Skimmer's choice.

I started a new eating plan in May and lost 12kgs to date. Best feeling ever!!! Still have a long way to go to reach my goal weight but slow and steady FTW!!! Good luck to all of you!

Nutriday Zero does it for me. I mix it up with some milk to get a drinkable consistency, a bit of vanilla essence and some sweetener.

I don't have sugar in my coffee etc :)

Neither do I. I actually stopped drinking tea and coffee altogether. Just wondering about the sweetener.
I tried stevia but holy cr@p it tasted bad.
I just use sugar when I need sweetness :D
Xylitol wasn't bad but it gets a bit expensive.

Be careful of obsessing about small things like the occassional teaspoon of sugar- or your diet will become unsustainable

I just always try to eat protein with every meal and avoid carbs because of insulin spikes. :) Think I will have three cups of green tea later :D

That's why I just use sugar :) And chocolate.
All the other naughty things like cold drink sweets chips is no problem at all. I skip them easily.
