Weight loss

Seriously though, I am confused about fruit now.
I always thought fruit in most qtys are fine.

I eat 2 bananas a day, an apple, a pear and sometimes a citrus of sorts.
Now you're telling me it's bad?

If you are carb intolerant, yes. If you aren't, they're ok

I think try stick to two fruits a day. 4 or 5 is going a bit far.

I've already reached my target goal and have continued loosing weight.
There's no real point in me entering.

I don't want to make you all feel bad about yourselves.

Its losing BTW..not loosing, just saying

Nobody will feel bad, on the contrary it might be extra motivation - what was your starting point and what are you now?

Mind = blown

seriously

I just eat fruit when I am hungry thinking it was always better than bread for example.
Lunch is always a yoghurt with a banana, everyday for 3 years now.

I also never eat breakfast.

That was just a joke.

I was close on about 90kg but still fit.
Mainly issues with my waist line spare tyre.

Now I am more at about 75kg and a hell of a lot slimmer than before.
I mainly did it to make myself more mobile for Hockey.
It all started with my exercise regime.
Just being strict with myself and always working out hard on and off the field.
No gyming, just running and hockey.

I also watch what I eat and have cut down on my sugar and milk intake.
I don't have a sweet tooth.
But often have to deal with the munchies.
Which I never succumb to. :D

I'm sticking with my "everything in moderation" thoery, I am not going ultra low carb high protein/high fat, as with many other diets it involves cutting too much out - and I find this to be far too limiting.

I agree with high protein especially when weight lifting but I find peoples jumping on diet bandwagons and ideas very similar to religious zealots when they find their "true religion" - their flame burns brightly but ulimately fail quite quickly due to their strictly imposed regiments.

sure... with all that fruit?

Sweet tooth is normally used to denote someone with a fondness for sugar-based desserts and the like, not someone who eats a lot of fruit, though fruit does have a higher amount of sugar.

actually when you look at it it's not that limiting at all, the only thing you really need to moderate is highly refined carbs (and everything that comes with them), everything else is as much as you want

the sad fact of the matter is that with any change in life style, people say they want to be slimmer, healthier or whatever, but in reality don't want to give up the things that are causing the problem in the first place, most people inherently resist change

Do you eat any types of bread?
I don't eat much at the moment, but every second day I have two slices of toast with poached eggs with this woolies low GI:

I guess it depends on the individual, when I slim down I do cut down on carbs - but reading through the thread I see a little fanaticism :D which from my experience is extremely hard to maintain - once the initial excitement and obsession wears off people just slip back into their old eating pattern.

I guess time will tell - this thread is alive till December

I'll accept the label if you're hanging it on me :p

my main wish really is that people just educate themselves and do proper research, understand how the body works and responds to what you put into it and then make informed, conscious choice instead of just blindly following what is supposedly the accepted wisdom

BTW what are your stats or how much weight have you lost or are you just maintaining?

I'm 1.8m

Last year I was sitting at 89kg, dropped down to just under 82kg and maintained that into this year, fell off the bus and started drinking beer again (my big weakness) and eating choccies and sweets, went back up to 84.7 and kicked carbs out again about 6 weeks ago, back down to 82kg.

If I can drop a bit more I'll be happy, but it's not a key focus, at the moment I'm researching exercise and am going to attempt some radically different stuff with that starting next week.

Oh, and the 89 to 82 drop last year was achieved just through nutrition, no exercise regime or elevation of activity.
