Weight loss

Had some amazing steak at a friends place :D
Didn't have any pap but family seemed to understand.

Coke unfortunately was my kryptonite aswell. Will try the suggestion OMB posted :)

Thing I find helps me a lot is to not have any starch in the morning because then I get hungry again quickly. When I used to have toast or bread for breakfast I'd be hungry again a few hours later.

Oh yeah and keep busy, no snacks at the PC :)

I am finally cutting through the last bit of fat around my mid section. Just in time for summer

As has been stated all weight loss really is, is burning a few more calories than you consume. The trick for me is to find healthy stuff that tastes good and sticking to it. You eventually start to really enjoy the healthy food and drink. I never ever thought that I would actually enjoy drinking water! Another tip is to try to keep yourself occupied. When I am bored, I eat.

There will no doubt be people that disagree with this stuff, but here are a few things from the shops which I have discovered over years of healthy eating which are low in calories and taste good:

Sweetener instead of sugar in your cereal and tea/coffee (I use aspartame-free out of paranoia)
Black Tea / Coffee, sweetened to your taste.
Tab / Coke Zero / Fanta Zero
Oats with Cinnamon, Cardamon
Woolworths protein bars for the guys
Woolworths Slimmer's Choice Pop Crisps instead of Lays etc. I really enjoy these and they are fewer than 100 calories per packet.
Raw Nuts.

Lost 15kg since April this year. Goal is 70kg. Currently 81.5 and was 96.6 abouts when I started. Just eating vegetables, lean meat, fruit and nuts. No bread, sugary things or junk food. Going well and I'm using the Libra app for Android to track my progress. The will power is strong with me this year. :sly:

Cool! :)

Hahaha this thread wouldn't be the same without you guys

Yup, but hard cold facts are just that.

I need around 2300 calories per day for BMR plus light activity. I sit on my ass all day, seriously.

Dropping 5 kilograms in 18 days... OK let's assume 2kg of that was water.

So 3KG of FAT lost = 27000 calories. Which implies a shortfall of 1500 calories per day. I promise you I'm not eating 800 calories per day. 6 rashers of bacon, some cheese and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Steak for lunch. Lamb chops or chicken plus salad for supper - decent portions (like 4 chops). Last night I probably ate 500g of mince.

So, CI=CO is a complete load of bollocks. End of story.

Great going!

The week started off great but seems to have changed to a wtf am i doing wrong week :D

Ok all I want to say... The person who needs to lose 3kg isn't necessarily going to achieve it the same way as the guy who needs to lose 30kg...

Well kJ restriction worked for me. Three years ago I went from 107 to 90 in three months. Three meals a day but kept it at 3000 kJ a day. Did avoid alcohol and had a decent hike once a week. Also took a "free" day once a week that seemed to reset the weekly plateau.

what people fail to understand bio, is that often when they go on a kJ restricted diet it's not the kJ restriction that's actually working, but it's that in the kJ restriction they have cut back on the refined carbs as well and that's actually what is causing the weight loss

This actually is true unless its broscience too - from an evolutionary standpoint - the less fat we have the harder it is too lose - especially around the 12% BF range

you're talking body fat % and I won't argue, ggd was talking about someone wanting to lose 3 kg vs. 30 kg

morning all
Quick question OMB, the sparkling water "trick"..doesn't the sparkling water have the same amount of sugar and additives etc? Or were you talking about sparkling un-flavoured water.. Having a slow day.

:erm: what's different?

Well.. The 3kg person is most likely (not definitely) eating reasonably healthy and will have to be quite strict with themselves to get the last few kgs off. The person who is 30kg over probably eats like a piglet or has a disease or something. If I eat 1, never mind 3 or 4 or 6 rashers of bacon or chops I will probably throw up... The guy who is so much overweight may cut out slightly and notice a huge loss where the other person will have to probably watch their diet much more closely.

I know a guy who lost 15kgs just by reducing - not eliminating - his coke and choccie intake, thats all...
