I want to thank Ol' Mean Bastid, and all others, for the guidance in this thread....
I did a lot of research on LCHF diet.
Breakfast today was extremely fatty bacon, pan fried in a lot of butter....
With a few eggs thrown in for good measure... I ate 3 hours ago, and could not possibly eat another bite (didn't come close to finishing my plate)... and I somehow feel more full than when eating a full rack of ribs, chips and ice cream..
I got some ketosis strips from Dischem, hopefully within a week, with my activity level, I will hit ketosis...
Lekker. You're going to hurt for 2 days but I reckon you'll be showing purple in 3
Wait. You had coffee with butter and cream?
1) dafuq?
2) and you're trying to lose weight?

Had 2 cups of coffee with butter and cream so far. Not yet hungry so I think I'll count it as a fast day. Couldn't find coconut oil in Checkers, and everyone and their mother was in Dischem yesterday.
Just leave before the mob gets you
Oh right. I see what's going on here. Haven't been following this thread at all yet. It's, um, interesting...
I personally don't agree with that kind of coffee but if it works for the others then they can drink as much of it as they need to.
It's a pity the science behind it makes no fscking sense, and why coffee?
Because coffee is delicious, plus caffeine raises metabolism
And why an emulsion?
so the fat does not sit on top
And how on earth does the coconut oil give you extra energy?
Coconut oil is a rich source of medium chain fatty acids. They are metabolized differently than other fats and are ultimately a very quick source of ketone bodies
That's paelo nonsense with no scientific evidence to back it up with. And adding energy is all good and well, but it has to be used or it too will turn to fat.
The coffee drink is used on an ultra low carb diet, and is used for energy. Extra ketone bodies end up in your urine if not used.
Oh and this just so happens to have been started by a guy making a living off of this fad, who has no science behind it. He just says he felt rejuvenated after consuming yak fat. So he was tired. Had a rest. Consumed yak fat. And felt rejuvenated. Now people are chucking butter in their coffee.
There is a lot more to this than reading one or two stupid blogs
And now people are chucking in as much fat as possible with cream as well.
Because it's delicious![]()
As if it's adding fat that makes you lose weight.
Moreover, even if this paleo nonsense worked, you're just making yourself unhealthy by pushing your cholesterol through the roof.
Absolute rubbish. Carbs & fat together wreck your lipid profile. On a carb restrictive diet fat will actually improve cholesterol levels
If this worked, one could extrapolate that fat consumption burns fat. Derp!
Carb restriction lowers insulin levels allowing fat to be burned. This would not happen if carbs were available in the blood
If the coffee is important, then what on earth is happening, because it would imply a chemical change in the presence of lipids. Lol. If it's the coconut oil then how on earth does it give anyone energy? And since when does adding energy = weight loss?
Most people who are overweight are terribly inefficient burners of ketones, which allows an excess to be excreted in the urine. The longer you are on an ultra-low carb diet, the more efficient the body will get, and the less ketones you will waste. Also in a lot of cases people actually consume less calories because hunger disappears on a low carb diet
I find this incredibly lol-worthy...
I suppose it is funny if you have no idea what is going on, maybe if you spent some time researching you would find it more interesting.
Rofl, how can you consider butter and cream part of a fast day? Unless you are only fasting from carbs lol.
I've terminated my IF, it's getting harder and harder to lose this last remaining fat so I'm switching to a cyclic ketogenic diet & building muscle.
On the 5:2 fast diet I'm allowed 500 calories on a fast day. Was just 1 teaspoon of Kerrygold butter and 2 tablespoons cream.
ah yes! 5:2
Where in the world are you that you have kerrygold?
