To be fair, I really appreciate his honesty. Most Christians when pressed get very uncomfortable about this issue, and evade a very awkward aspect to their faith. Ekstasis says it like it really is, which is great.
Fair enough, but then why does he get to throw a hissy fit when someone else says it like it really is for them?

I would have thought that the fact that walking up to a believer and going "FSCK JESUS!!!" is inconsiderate would be obvious to most. Perhaps I am wrong. I certainly hope not.
Just as it is considerate to walk up to someone and say "you are an atheist! You are EVIL and will burn in hell!".
I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with being inconsiderate though. If you want to express yourself go for it.

Because religious people and religion itself expect special treatment. Which is why it's important to disabuse them of that silly notion.

Nope. And you don't see anything wrong with telling people they're going to hell. Furthermore, atheists don't have a god. So to criticise their way of life is more personal to them than to you, yet you have no hesitation in doing so. That's called being a hyprocrite. Don't worry though, none of us are shocked by that.
Dear Ekstasis: do you expect an atheist, upon talking to you about spiritual stuff, to have any complimentary things to say about a religion so steeped in evil?

There is once again a "good for the goose, good for the gander" scenario at play. This has all to do with feelings on both sides.
We, the religious (in my case Christian), feel hurt/insulted when the opposite swears at our deities.
The non-religious feel insulted when we tell them they're going to hell.
The latter is part of what I have to do ito spreading our "truth", I have to do it. The "decent" Christians who doesn't, are not doing what was asked/ or they themselves have not yet accepted Christ.
So I find myself in unfamiliar territory - where I should not voice my concerns or disapproval in cases like these. Iirc, there was a thread before on the blasphemy rule where I've actually agreed with the OP.
However, please understand that it is difficult sometimes to stay quiet.

The bottom line is this: We should all be free to voice our opinions, and accept that sometimes people will say things we don't like. That is what I do.

It's absolutely not to do with feelings. As copacetic has explained, it's about the hypocrisy. I really don't care (and I'm pretty sure most people don't), if you say I'm going to Hell/Hades/Valhalla/Elysium/Sto'Vo'Kor or whatever brand of afterlife you subscribe to, after I'm dead. Although telling children that might upset me sometimes (they tend to believe that sort of thing), the issue is that you can and should be honest (we don't expect you to censor yourself), but then also expect others to be honest with you, and not care about things that you think are sacred.
That's exactly what this thread is about (although it's about Muslims and you're a Christian). Each wants their religion to get special treatment, to be above questioning.

I know thats' the Christian way, to make assertions with no explanation, but please don't think anyone will take you seriously if that's how you debate.
Furthermore, as an atheist, I can tell you definitively I have no god. Whether or not you choose to believe is up to you, but it's a thin thread to cling on to, and proves nothing.
