What car to get?

Her: "So what car do you drive?"

You can now answer one of the following:

"Hyundai"
"Kia"
"Chevrolet"
"Daihatsu"
"Honda"
"Toyota"
"Nissan"

or

"Golf"
"Polo"
"Audi"
"BMW"
"Mercedes"

One of these lists is not going to get you any lady bits.

That being said, trying to impress with your car is really not going to work. If that is the kind of woman you want to attract, you are not in the right league. Women generally care very little about how good a car is. They tend to focus mainly on the brand and the look. So you can get away with a really slow BMW 320i for example (although I would strongly avoid this car.)

For your budget, I just don't see a good choice besides something from VW: Golf or Polo with some nice wheels and maybe leather seats.

I would avoid all older Beemers, Audi's and Mercedes just for the sake of owning the brand. You can't own those cars without motorplans.

Buy a secondhand MPS 3 or 6 and a HUGE rear-view mirror because that's where everyone else on the road will be in! :D

MPS' performance only looks impressive on paper. On the road it gets smoked by most everything.

LOL, trying to get girls with a car.

Very few women actually care about cars, furthermore those that would go for you based on your car would probably date based on the perceived expense of the car, which could easily have been substituted by spending a lot of money and general bragging (since you seem to be into those women). Women that actually like cars for cars, fairly rare.

For that money you want something beautiful - and nothing is more beautiful than the new Alfa Giulietta.

Well nothing except for the new Opel Astra ;)
So get one of those and you will be looking good and have many miles of happy motoring.

If you are in it for the best bang for your buck : i20 1.6

Haha, some of you guys seem to be taking the vajine comment seriously :D.
I learned well from my sister, got a demo car cause she needed a car. Some years on got another car. So I just don't want a car that gets me from point A to B. If its something I'm going to be using for a number of years I should at least enjoy every aspect, the look, ride comfort, no petrol gussler etc.

2. Even a 1999 C-Class in good condition is way better than a new Koreabox or a Mazda 3.
Hmmm, I might wanna re-evaluate the car and see how much it will be to spruce it up and live with it for a couple more years.

Haha, you put Nissan with the first group. The 350z/370z/GTR are not half bad ;)
The lower range can stay in the first group though.

Cerato - Seems good, but its a Kia. What is everybody's take on this companies cars?
2nd hand Honda Civic Type R - Errr, not really. This car just comes of as douchey to me, getting all those people who park by the street raving they motors.

Seriously? Better than a Mazda3? Bru, that is some bad fumes you are sucking on there.

My mom has had a few Mercs, last being a W202 and now a W203, she is quite picky about cars - never liked my Astra. Surprisingly she does most of her trips in my sister i10 1.2 because its more economical and in town its much easier to park. Add to that the service costs on the Merc and you can understand why even people that have access to a Merc and a "Koreanbox" sometimes leave the Merc at home.

blah blah 191kw to your mom and 380Nm nasty torques to your girlfriend
come on you bloody fanboi! even Clarkson admitted it scares the pants off him and its ****en fast

Oh, saw someone driving the new Opel Astra, couldn't help but turn my head to get another glimpse. Will make note.

Whats wrong with your 1999 C Class? I dont think servicing would be too expensive on a W202.

I drive a W124, love it!

if i was willing to spend the extra i would have taken it instead of the i20, although for now i prefer a hatch so prob would have then taken the i30

my take on kia's cars = very good

Why buy an old car if you can buy a new one? Nothing wrong with old Mercs, I love all Mercs actually, but I don't think I will ever buy on.

+1 I would have bought an i20 if I was not such a big Opel fanboi. But the Corsa Essentia still is good value for money.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/Honda_NSX_red.jpg <- and how douchey is this gem? :p

As a side note: if you want a vajin magnet, learn to speak with confidence and invest the money in good clothing. Most women's car knowledge doesn't extend beyond "the white one" or "the red one". Buy a cheap, reliable little beater, suit up and nut up. You don't speak to every woman you meet outside your car, do you? If you do, you're probably in Brakpan and that's when you need a Ford Cortina without a doubt.

And as others mentioned, if you're trying to pick up women with your car, you might as well pay for a prostitute.

P.S. Only you know what car you will enjoy driving. The only way to find that out is to test-drive whatever's in your budget.
