What cell phone to get?

Both hj2k_x and myself is looking for a new phone.

We had a look at the HTC S710, then discarded it as the phone is too slow for the applications.

What we want is a phone with the following characteristics :

(from my side) :

ability to play the odd Mp3, surf the Internet (either from gprs, 3g or wifi access point), qwerty keyboard, 64k or better color screen, ability to have IMAP4 email (google mail) and the ability to run 3rd party software or add-ons. Also SMS, MMS and the odd call here and there. It also need to have Bluetooth and USB.

Plus the ability to add bigger RAM cards in (to store more data) will also be a definite plus.

I don't need GPS software, 3G is optional (but not a necessity). Touch screen is not needed.

Symbian OS, Linux or Winders Mobile.

from hj2k_x's side :

-speed and responsiveness
-big screen (at least 2.2" but the bigger the better)
-nice buttons which are good for fast smsing
-nice camera with flash
-must not be too big or too heavy. Something the size of my K810 is fine

I would like as well
-the ability to add cheap memory cards, like micro SD
-good battery life
-a slide out qwerty keyboard

I do not want
-touch screen or a stylus
-a phone that slides (like the Samsungs or Nokia N81/82 unless what slides out of it is a qwerty keyboard)


Basically, I want an HTC S730 as far as I can tell...

Also, it needs to be free on contract. Must be VC, preferably TopUp315/Talk130. Certainly no more expensive than that.

And if the touch screen wears out, and you're totally dependant upon it, no thanks.

As old-timer I tend to adhere to the KISS principle, and get something simple which will work... :)

We prefer to hear from people with hands-on experience rather. Besides, looking at your aunt's cellphone and deciding that it's ubercool is not the same thing as hands-on experience.

What a brilliant idea - I reckon pooka should be limited in the advice department...

I see the 6110 is available on TopUp315 as well. Can't say I am in love with it just yet though.
