What cellphone should I get?

Yeah they popular enough but how good are those Blackberry's really? Or is it like Spur, iphone/Apple, Mercedes? Just well marketed?

What about HTC touch??? Looks soooo nice!
I can get that with a pay-in of about R1400.00

Processor a bit under powered at 200mhtz. Guys complain that it's sluggish and unresponsive... But maybe have a look at one anyway...

Not the iphone, mind you Apple isn't marketed at all in SA yet abroad it's so strong and has quite a nice niche following in SA too.

Personally I think their products with the exception of the ipod are a croak of ****. Although to be fair I've only ever owned an ipod... So perhaps my statements are unwarranted...

Have you ever tried to get a broken ipod repaired by Apple SA? It's almost impossible. They have an office in a block of offices in Morningside and that's about it... They don't seem to have much infrastructure or back up in SA and that IMO makes them quite a dubious brand to deal with.

They replaced my ipod which with it's inked screen was deemed irreparable..

I wouldn't say that, I have a HTC Touch for just over a month now and from my experience, it depends how you manage it, because it's like a mini PC and if you don't manage it well it will be slow. The idea is to keep all you apps on the card and free up the any ram that is use by open apps which you are not using, because some apps stay open after use and have to be closed manaully.(they stay open so next time you use it, it will be quicker to access).

I am just enjoying my touch and there are so many free apps that every day I log onto the site do I find something new, useful and fresh.

I got a tytnII and I'm hating it. Find it unresponsive to the touch and sluggish. Got a N95 which I use daily and prefer...

Have you added any applications on the tytnII or was the phone like that when you got it.It has a fast processor than the touch so I can't see why you complaining.

My other phone ia a N80.

None. I can't understand it either. My tytnI felt quicker. Maybe it's a dud although I've read somewhere there video accelerator drivers that require updating on the tytnII although these drivers are not available yet, perhaps with the first firmware upgrade....

My next phone though will definitely be the N96.

I also had a N80. Lovely little phone but it fell into my babies bath water and there it stayed for probably about 3 minutes before I discovered it. My wife was trying to get hold of me and the N80 was on a shelf above a plastic bath full of water that we used earlier in the day to bath our 6 month old baby girl... The phone vibrated off the shelf and into the water. I heard this muffled ringing and discovered the phone in the water. It had one of those crystal pouches on so after a day or 2 it worked again except for the secondary camera. Gives me a hardware failure message whenever I try activate the secondary camera...

Nokia is always my fone of choice but this time around I wanted something different, So HTC is my new baby for now to mess around with even though my contract sim is still in my N80, I am really enjoying the Touch.Had 5 Nokia's todate nothing else.

What about HTC P3300?
You got a laptop/desktop? I wouldn't bother with a WM handset if you have unlimited access to either a laptop/desktop. As good as some WM smart phones are I don't believe they're an effective substitute.

I find smart phones frustrating. Too much technology/apps and not enough processing power makes them a little sluggish and cumbersome.

I've had many but just lately I've decided horses for courses, therefore I choose top of the range Nokia handset for basic computing requirements like email and browsing basic websites, internet banking too but primarily smsing and calls.

First play around with a WM phone...you may hate it...you may like it.

I had a K-Jam. I like the Windows Mobile and how it works, that phone was just too big and I had no need for a qwerty keyboard.

Have you ever seen the P3300...?

I do like Windows Mobile SmartPhones. I was meaning the P3300 as a smartphone, is it good?

Not familiar with it no... Got a Tytn II and I'm not enjoying it. Find it contrived and cumbersome to use. Basic elementary tasks like making a phone call or sending a sms require more key presses or screen touches than they would on the Nokia for example.

Having said that if you prepared to live with these nuances then the Tytn II is a potent piece of kit...

Well I got myself the SE P1I, last week, and love the phone, went from an imate k-jam *spit*, to this one, and I am so glad I did.

The only good thing about WM phones are the amount of software available out there, but that is about it.

*looks lovingly at my P1*, love the SE P series

my Nokia E51 does everything a WM phone does(MFE, office, skype, wifi, sms,and it's not bulky)

Also going for the E51 later this month. Seems to be a good phone, and the wifi is a big plus.
