My wife and I have just bought a place in November last year and no one was staying there for over a year prior to that... How can we "save" when the consumption during this period was practically nothing?:eek:

This bites...

Save power or cough up

Johannesburg - If South Africans don't save electricity by July 1, 2008, they can be penalised by three to five times their regular power tariffs.
According to Nelisiwe Magibane, vice-director general of the department of minerals and energy, the department is finalising legislation that can have a drastic effect on SA's electricity consumers.

She says that the proposed electrical regulatory law that was approved by parliament recently has made provision for the drastic action.

The savings and penalties will be measured against use from September 2006 to October 2007.

Citypower chief Silas Zimu has also intimated that stronger regulations will be put in place for those who do not save energy.

I love the way we are threatened in order to save power when the government were too f*cking retarded to make sure we would have enough of it in the first place. Yeah, like always, it is someone else's fault.

I'm sure if you have proof that the place was standing empty for a whole year, they would cut you slack?

And in situations where there was the a single person there for a few hours a day?

I'm renting a place and the person before me basically showered. Now we have a 3 person family :/

Such is the nature of power, Kasyx.

If you are as mighty as the state, you do not aplogise to people, you talk to them in a condescending manner and most importantly, you NEVER NEVER relinquish power when you realise you are stuffing up an entire country.

Thats crazy.

Its amazing how the SA guavamint can scrape the bottom of the barrel and then blame its citizens...

True.
It is their fault.
Then they penalise us.
And make more profit.
We taught the communists and socialists capitalism.

We created a monster.

They should pemalise themselves when street lights are on the whole day, then come talk to me. Sh1theads! Gues who i'm not voting for next election. Then the fsckers in charge still get millions in bonuses for a job well done. Well done my a$$, they should all go and commit harakiri

And again - people who have been saving since the original bolt incident are going to be ****ed over, while the people who have wasted endlessly now just need to swiitch a few things off.

The man who toed the line is going to be ****ed again, and the real culprits get away scot-free.

And people on this forum wonder why I loathe South Africa to the extent I do.

You know what, I am not surprised at this.. Eskom or the government might as well do nothing and charge us.. Wait.....

I'm sure if you have proof that the place was standing empty for a whole year, they would cut you slack?

Yeah i'm sure they would if you can find someone that a.) knows what they are doing and b.) actually is awake for long enough to listen to me.

Eskoms policy is pay first and ask questions later...

And to top if off I just found out on Saturday that the wife is pregnant (8 weeks) so when the little bugger is born the electricity bill will go through the roof again...:(
