Tips for better surfing and usage of the WWW

Hi folks

We are doing a short survey to try to understand what small and medium sized businesses want from ISPs. It will be great if you can tell us what your business expects from your ISP (hence not your residential needs, but rather your business needs).

Please post what you want from your ISP in your business here.

I would love to see a follow up article done on the mweb disaster. If anything, I would like my ISP not to be like MWEB. Where things get sorted out, where things run as it should and where stability and openness with factual responses rules the day.

+1 for real facts :P

My requirements would be reliability (including minimal down time), constant speed and reasonably priced.

Good, consistent speedy connection - all-in-one line rental + data packages at affordable prices - top ups with value added incentives at competitive prices

--Great Pricing
--Affordable packages
--great connectivity
--good customer care

  • Reliability
  • Minimum performance guarantee
  • Reasonable price
  • Good communication, e.g. let us know immediately about problems and keep us updated on progress
  • Knowledgeable technical support

I agree with many of the previous statements, as internet administrator at my work we continually have to find out ourselves why the internet is not working/slow/intermittent.
We pay for a good relatively reliable and moderately fast internet capability but continually are unsure of this service and struggle with problems.
A honest service provider that informs its customer timeously of problems and makes a good effort to correct them while keeping the customer informed is much better than just keeping quiet.

- Redundancy
- Reliability
- Rapid and good customer service
- Decent pricing is always a plus

Survey response

Hope I win the prize! :)

* First and foremost, I want a stable connection - this is imperative!
* Thereafter, a competitive price

That's all folks :)

Redundency
Higher bandwith
Larger caps or uncapped business models
Reliable speeds
Lower Prices

Reliability, consistency, speed and Price. Uncapped is great for business and that is one of the key reasons we switched ISP at our business.

Honesty, transparancy and communication.... The rest is obvious such as a stable connection and for it to be well priced. The only thing my ISP got right with all this is the well priced part, but alas, without an ADSL line, this is the best I can get.
