What does Cell C do well, and where can it improve?

I used Cell C once about 5 years ago and they stiffed me for data overusage despite the fact that their inadequate billing system never mentioned the balance SMS it sends was 3 days out of date (in fact it was 5 days out of date) and was unresponsive near the end of the month. I don't know if they have improved their service, but their absolutely bull-headed refusal to even consider refunding me a few hundred rand put me off ever using their network again.

Great value on the 100gb prepaid data.

Their network isn't stable. I use their LTE network for gaming from time to time and on occasion it suffers packet loss, making it frustrating to use for gaming.

Cell C !
Coverage/internet speed is better lately. ..
Sometimes my airtime disappear ,even though I've still have databundle available. .......wish they would put systems inplace which cut internet connection when bundle is depleted. .
They could be more responsible with money/number security. .

Scenario, Buy R10 airtime, get 8MB, 8SMS, 8 minutes . This is a great pricing package. The top up contract is really poor, how can they not allow you to change Rand value to data?

Some good prices.
Everything else(data speeds, coverage, support, etc.) is pathetic!

Ive been running off of the FNB connect network for the past 6 months. The biggest issue for me is network coverage, stability and call quality. I live in umhlanga which is a well populated business area so it us worrying that CellC has not introduced quality coverage in such areas. I can understand remote and rural areas having poor coverage but not the built up areas, and relaying on roaming with Vodacom towers calls call drops when you jump from towers. This certainly leaves a bad impression.

Although wifi calling is a great idea, the fact is that you need buy in from the business running the wifi networks and the second biggest challenge is that you need a supported phone which is typically the more high end devices.

If it wasn't for the FNB connect pricing and the fact I get 40% of my monthly spend back from FNB I would move back to Vodacom.

CellC talks to the price concious user who is happy to forgo quality for cost. Based on my discussion with people on the business world the majority still use MTN or Vodacom, and those on CellC watch to change back, therefor CellC has got a lot of work to do I order to catch up in this area.

Excellent Customer Service But must improve data delivery in countryside

Really excellent customer service at their shops. Have had some great promotions.

In cities delivery is great but in the countryside there is no signal or signal so weak that it can take hours to download a tiny text message and signal gets dropped every few minutes.

Living in Ficksburg, Free State, I download out of copyright books and audio books. In Jhb it takes me 2-3 minutes for a 150MB audio book. In Ficksburg the same download can take over an hour, even at night. I have to restart the download numerous times as the signal gets dropped. Even in Bethlehem, which is a much larger town, the signal is very weak.

Stop pointing fingers and blame others networks...focus on your own...
Good going with FNB and pricing. Improve network.

CellC offers great deals at reasonable prices, as far as improvements go, their signal is not the greatest in to Fourways area.

From where I stand the network is still junk
A friend has CellC, and talking to him on his mobile is a nightmare, sounds like crap and fades often
Where I live, it shows 3g on the coverage map for the whole area(Mimosa park Germiston)
Have twice tacken sim cards to try out, and twice been a waste of time
At best there is 2g
Phoned cellC, and and explained everything to them
They took my details, and said they would get back to me
Got an SMS from them and they hay was the end of that
Two other people around here have cellC, a WhatsApp to them takes hours to go through
And phone calls to them often don't go through
IMO
Cell is currently not an option, no matter how cheap they are, or whatever promises they make
It would be like going back to early days of cellular communication in SA
Despite what reviews and reports on Telkom and cellC, they are still NOT viable options or competition for Vodacom

I use Cell C's 100GB bundle for R999. It is valid for a year and it is the only network that gives me proper 3G in the area where I live.

The issue with Cell C is that data bundles do not work when roaming... so when I am in Clarens eg... then my 3G dongle and data does not work at all as Cell C piggy backs off Vodacom.

Same thing happened at Zimbali...

This means that I can only use my data when I am home..

Let me stress... at home I have awesome internet from Cell C

CellC does its marketing quite well, but network coverage and performance is by far the worst.
500 meters down the road from their woodmead building but no 3G or 2G signal on CellC.

Would gladly move from MTN to cellC but they just don't have coverage anywhere I go. :(

I recall you being brave and innovative with data bundles and pricing. What we need is that same bravery and innovation to free the country of the scam of expiring bundles.

All it needs is one service provider to show that it can be done, as you did with your data bundles and pricing, and the rest will follow.

I know I'm not the only consumer ready to switch at the drop of a hat, as soon as someone offers data bundles that don't expire but simply deplete as they get used up. Expiry dates are used to extort money from us; so while you might make less profit without them, what you lose will be more than recovered in good will and by an increased customer base.

Offer us access to a reliable LTE network with competitively priced data bundles that don't expire and see what happens. Please.

Good: The improvement in their network quality in and around Pretoria, efficient call center service most of the time (Used to be frustrating and useless all the time)

Bad: Your franchise system made me leave Cell C after 6 years, hate that the stores can't do anything without approval from the call center and the call center then takes their sweet time, line drops then the employee has to rephone them and start from the begininng. I won't step foot in any Cell C branch in Pretoria. Sort out this system so that the Franchises can open/close/upgrade contracts without needing to phone mommy and daddy for approval that takes 30min at best. Value on your contracts are mediocre now, they were great 2008-2013 but got pathetic after that. Cell C lost their leading valuable contracts in the market position.

What they do well:

- Relatively speaking, their prices are very competitive, and they seem to exploit customers the least of all service providers.
- Their network is very stable. i've had to contact their support exactly once in 3.5 years.

What they do badly:
- The one time where I contacted support for an issue regarding data being down, they took a day to respond to my request, and then sent me a whole form to fill in and scan before they would help me. This is both too long and too tedious a process, and I don't understand why I couldn't just be called back instead.

Since the marshmallow update, my wifi calling has been woeful, i cant use it properly anymore.

In my opinion, CellC sold out and is now just another Corporate Shark. All rates, that used to be of the best available, are now so high, it borders on the ridiculous. Especially out of bundle rates, where in the recent past were affordable, are now daylight robbery. Also, data or balances that used to carry over, now just falls away, in other words, paid for by the client services, now are lost, just so CellC can sell you another bundle...thievery.
It might be with in the law and so on, but is this a company for the clients? Or only for profit, the way just about every other service oriented business has gone.
One thing is for certain, as soon as, and when ,my contracts have run the term, my business will go elsewhere.
Everything mentioned, would have been acceptable on some absurd level, but I have had so much difficulty with my reception, in a major city, I might add, that it has become a situation where I have accepted that I have been robbed, again, and that I just have to struggle through my terms and be done with it.
I know that this is just an opportunity to vent, for why would anything change?
