What GPU to run on 40" LCD?

Good choice! :D Let us know how it goes. Perhaps you could even upload a video to show us how gameplay is?
 
I didnt read the whole thread but if it runs well on low, but freezes up on high after a certain number of minutes, its usually:

1. Overheating GFX (the GT430 probably has sh*tty heatsinks) it could also be the inners of the PC has bad airflow
2. Overheating PSU (incase it is old) <-- this is less likely though, since its not power hungry)
3. Driver issue <-- does it turn black screen after a certain part of the game?


Better check ur gpu temps, something is overheating and playing at 720p res does strain low end cards.

It does turn black yes and sometimes a beige color, when black then PC dont respond and i have to reset.
When going beige it'll respond after 20 seconds or so, game will keep going but with no sound...

So its not specific to a game setting or cut scene? Well it if comes back on, it means the driver crashed and windows reloaded the drivers.

Still very likely overheating, better get some better airflow for the box, a better card will only get the box hotter inside :)

How many fans you got inside the box? You got any tools to check the cpu&gpu temps?

Lol!

I alraedy got the new chassis, Thermaltake A31 Chaser, so the airflow should be sorted... Will start the transplant on Thursday and see what's what...
 
Little update...

A good friend of mine desperately needed a PSU so i sold the 650W one i got to him cos he made me a good offer for it:D and got a Gigabyte W600 cos i think with the Powercolor 7950 it should be sufficient...



Comes with all the bells & whistles 4pin & 6pin connectors etc...

Some pics of the case and dissassembly which is a breese to work on/with...

Sadly i didnt take anymore pics when starting the transplant cos i was so into getting it done, i totally forgot to pics lmao!

Also upon finishing the transplant, my good 'ol GT430 OC edtion GPU breathed its last breath... RIP:D

Luckily my good friend who bought the PSU by me had his old MSI GTS 250 laying around and borrowed it to me until the 7950 arrives ( long story with my payment not getting to the online supplier *sigh* but sorted now and getting it next week...)

I was bloody amazed by this card! It chowed through all my favourite PC games like a breeze on high and ultra settings! The only con about this card, which my old one spoiled me with, is that there's no HDMI port so i had to hookup the sound with a 3.5 to rca cable into my home audio setup as i do not have PC speakers (never needed it)

Will open up case later today after work and upload some pics of how the finished setup looks:)

The gts250 is actually very old.
 
I've gone quiet on this thread for an unannounced reason... dont wana make it sound like a christmas wish that came true but......................... i won a substantial amount on the lottery and was thinking to upgrade everything to the latest spec goodies... if you not lazy to read my first post in this thread then you'll know what i'm running with the addition of a 7950.

Had a great improvement with gaming due to 7950 but wana see, like us coloreds say, waar brant dit and build what i can with sorta unlimited budget;)

So which way do i go:confused: AMD or Intel?
I got my mind set on the case/chassis and I'd like a GTX Titan

From the gurus i want to know the benefits of AMD vs Intel and Nvidea VS AMD Radeon...

I dont wana go SLI or Crossfire cos i'm not an avid gamer as such but when need be i want the bragging rights cos literally i can afford it;)
 
Forgot to mention that I'd be running a SSD(OS) and 2x 2tb(storage cos i love my HD movies and music) and fresh Win8 Pro 64 bit install...
