Is it just me or has 5FM gone down the tubes. Since the new line-up I just cannot listen to it anymore. It feels as though they are aiming for a different audience. Or maybe I am just getting to old for it.

Agreed, it is off the list.

Yup, was discussing this with someone the other day. I no longer listen to 5fm at all... and I used to listen to it almost exclusively.

Same here. I thought my radio was stuffing up. Everytime I turned it on I thought I was listening to radio Metro.

I stopped listening after Gareth left and actually now listen to 702, much more intellectually stimulating.

I find myself listening to KFM in the morning, or 567 in the evenings (never thought i'd find it interesting)... or podcasts from my phone if I want music.

CBA turning my radio on any more,I turn on Tunein, put it on Nuff Radio and enjoy the drive

Same... never listen to it anymore, actually, what pushed me away was Gareth Cliff.
Now that he is gone, it's better but still (to me) it feels like a radio station that does more ADVERTISING than anything else.

Haven't listened to 5 in many years, tried it again the other day, cant stand the crap they play... Removed it from my channel list again.

Who's the lady who does the lunchtime show? All she can talk about is twitter and booze.
I swear my IQ drops as I listen to her talk.

There is this air of desperation, frustration and pretentiousness on the 2 main slots (Morning & Afternoon drive) since the departure of Cliff. If you've listened to Fresh in the afternoons compared to now you can hear the underlying frustration in his voice and how his show struggles to remain as appealing as it was before. Roger Goode is just the wrong type of personality for afternoon traffic and his team are very childish, as are the topics. He fitted well in the evenings, especially Fridays.

TBH, of the lot I really feel for Fresh. He was epic on the afternoon drive and it suited his lifestyle perfectly as well. But God knows who else could 5FM slotted on the morning show - I would have chosen Rob Forbes but ja...

When Mark Gilman and Barney Simon left the station, so did I. I am happier for it. I miss the days when they were relative and music was good. Will never go back.

Used to listen to 5fm all the time during my commute, and still like the chats, but lately all music they play is that godawful gansta-rap wannabee crap. You know the style ..

When I walked in the raaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin,
And I saw the traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain,
Now I am in paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain

*kots*

This latest reshuffle has farked the station up big time. I also don't tune in anymore.

Far too many adverts as well. Even one of the DJ's (can't remember which one) acknowledged this fact the other day. He said something along the lines of "we have a killer show lined up for you with plenty hot new tracks (and plenty adverts)" hahah

Haven't listened to 5fm in many many years...

Only radio station that ever gets tuned to is East Coast, and even then its only for the rubbish traffic reports. Bluetooth on my phone and the music I like plays from there.

The music is awful (and boringly repetitive) and the dj's are infantile.

This morning's 'Born Free' track was Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Fresh afterwards waxed lyrical about getting goosebumps listening to it. Well, WHY NOT PLAY MORE LIKE IT THEN!?!

All we get is crap gangster rap where every second word is beeped out so it sounds like you're listening to a cd that's skipping! Unfortunately though, I fear I may be in the minority when it comes to what I'd like to hear on the radio. Give me Korn, Linkin Park or Metallica over Nicki Minaj or Jack Parow any day...
