Hi All :)

I currently have a 4Mbps line, however it only syncs at 3Mbps, does this mean that if/ when the Telkom Exchange get upgraded to support 8Mbps - 12Mbps+ I will not be able to make use of these new speeds because I cannot even sync at the current 4Mbps?

Or.. . will the Exchange be upgraded in such a way that it makes use of different technology (ADSL2+), and therefore I WILL most likely be able to sync at the higher speeds 8Mbps+ ?

Regards,
milo

You will be sync at a higher speed becuase the your profile will change i not sure if you hit the full 8 or 12mbs but you should get real close. On the current modulation my line reports i can connect at a max 9.9mbs. but on the ADSL2+ modulation i can sync at better speeds.

I'm with BrianB on this one. Changing the modulation technique from ADSL to ADSL2+ won't allow you to change from a synchronization rate of 3Mbps to 8Mbps at all! It can clearly be seen (on that graph) that if your line attenuation is currently the reason why you can't synchronize at 4Mbps, that using another modulation technique WILL NOT increase your synchronization rate with more than a tiny margin.

Is there any date when Telkom is releasing this for the public and not just some individuals
