What is decolonised education?

Yeah, like Newton, Einstein, Archimedes, Laplace etc.

Bruh, these protesters aren't studying those people. They're all doing BA degrees that only covers basic South African history like the Groot Trek and the like.

I'd be surprised if most of them even know what Newton and Einstein did other than being really intelligent.

ok then, lets decolonise medical education and the tribes can go back to being below the mosquito in the food chain :)

A whole lot of waffle and he still didn't manage to explain what decolonized education is.

In the interest of giving the new universities/syllabi a good beginning, could we start a list of afrocentrist approved words that mean the same as their european counterparts ?
Words like computer,electricity,telescope,parallelogram and such......
Stuff like that .

- The curriculum does not accommodate creativity and expression in African languages. For example, drama students feel they are marked lower if they produce work in an African language;

Good, you want everything else in English instead of in your own language...

If you even blink at the question "Who is Bernardino Ramazzini" you will be kicked out that door so hard you won't even know what hit you.

Plueeez

Anti-malarial drugs like quinine are a colonial construct forced on Africa by white men, they must be decolonised and malaria must be welcomed back to Africa

I know right?

Do these guys realise you can choose to study either Jazz, Classical or African music? The reason we use European notation is because it's the best and the standard... The fact that they protest this is so ignorant.

If you complain about problems without proposing solutions you are effectively useless. If you sat any of these people down and said ok, we'll give in to all your demands, what is the solution, they will look at you blankly. You can have everything you want when you have a clear plan of what it is that needs to be achieved - wanting something isn't good enough, but the entitlement culture is so strong that no one can understand this simple principle. You can whine all you want about how bad things are, but if you can't actively build a solution then what is the point.

Same goes for service delivery. It's always along the lines of "We want toilets". Ok we'll give you toilets, and when they get it, it's not good enough because it's porter potties. Should have been a little bit more proactive on stating the details...

Don't forget they want to get this decolonised education education for free. Wonder who is going to rewrite all the lecture material and be prepared to present it with a straight face for free?

It's worth keeping in mind that there are feminists, in first world countries, who say effectively the same thing.

This plays into the hands that most protesters are BA students.
That's typically where this sort of nonsense comes from.

I and my family have received our New Zealand visas
Kill myself or go to New Zealand? The former definitely has a lot more appeal.

Students should start by decolonizing themselves. That starts with them NOT studying as this is a foreign concept.

They should also quit all appropriation of white culture. Including all medicine, technology and languages brought by the evil whites. Also political organization that was influenced by whites should be discarded too. This includes socialism, capitalism, communism and nationalism.

Then when all that is taken you should also not express regret... as that is a western concept too. viva...
Maybe that's the harsh lesson they need. When one of them gets injured don't send an ambulance, but leave them to use a cart or something, and either don't admit them to hospital or only provide treatments invented in South Africa by black people.

If they want their own degree, give it too them. Privatize universities and let them have their own universities with a syllabus they have made up all of their own entirety.
It doesn't seem fair to punish everyone by privatising universities.

Please, do try and ''decolonise'' the scientific fields and see how far you get.

Their ignorance is staggering.

There is knowledge that you know, knowledge that you know of, but appreciate that you have yet to learn, and knowledge that you simply don't know exists (that you don't know that you don't know). The third category is vast, and any true academic or intellectual appreciates this keenly and fervently maintains an open mind and the humility to expand into this area as much as possible. But these people are just arrogant and ignorant.

Great idea , this guy needs to take himself and every other like minded savage participating in the riots and start their own bantu university where they can create their own decolonised education system free of the ideas and principles of the colonists , best of all they can make it free of charge.
