What is going on?

Sony is certainly much more expensive than most other brands when it comes to the same specifications. You do pay a premium for the Sony Vaio brand, but it is good quality.

+1, Sony = Good quality. I'll pay more just to get the Sony, but that's just me.

You should be beaten with a stick for wanting to buy from incredible ripoff :p

Seriously, if you want any kind of after sales service, seek laptop elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Quik, where do you recommend I buy from and which of these 2 do you prefer?

I still believe that the idea of a laptop is portability so the 16" acer is a no-no, it's going to be a mission to carry around.

I wouldn't buy either of those but if I had to choose it'd be the sony.

Dude, if you can get that Sony cheaper, well by all means take it then, but just take the Sony. I have personal experience with that specific laptop and it's just wonderful. A real pleasure to work with. ;)

You're kidding, right? T6400 vs P8600 ?? It's a no-brainer.

10-to-1, the operating system they come with will be a flavour of Vista 32-bit. While this is easily remedied by ordering the 64-bit disc from Microsoft (which takes like 6 weeks), it's still an irritation, because you won't be able to make use of all 4GB of RAM in the Acer with the pre-loaded Vista.

I'm not sure, but I don't think the Aspire 6935 comes with an LED backlit LCD. Can't find explicit mention of it with the Vaio either, but Vaios have been coming with LED backlights for AGES.

In addition, the Vaio LOOKS much nicer.

The only thing I don't like on the Vaio is the keyboard. Those Mac-like keys irritate me.

Wow, thank you for the response.

Vaio, here I come...Wooohooo :D

Thanks for the detailed info, Sn3rd & Funker. I really am clueless when it comes to processors, etc. hehe.

If any1 knows where I can get it cheaper, let me know.
Thanks!
