Tim, I don't know where you did your studying, but it is a well known fact that extreme right wing and extreme left wing are virtually the same as far as wanting to have total control of everything.
The original Communistic ideology was just that...a dream of a Utopia where all men were equal. What they didn't work out at the time was that the leaders would want to be more equal than the rest of the masses. Net result is that your Left Wing dictator (eg Stalin) is very similar to a Right Wing dictator such as Hitler. Both people need ultimate power and rule their people with an iron rod.
You cannot lump all liberal thinking in with the Communists, just as it would be wrong to lump all right wing thinking in with the Nazis.\
Fazda, you seem very confused. Why can't either wing have a totalitarian government? It's not exclusive to one side or the other. You also seem to be under the impression that China subscribes to Lenin-Marxism, which it doesn't.
Finally, I never said that the left wing were communists, I said that communists were left wing. Liberals exist on the left wing, as do communists. Conservatives exist on the right wing as do fascists. It is either left or right (or perhaps centre) and communism is most definitely not right wing. Go read up on this stuff starting with the French revolution, maybe you'll understand.
Just in case you want to debate this further:
In several countries, the terms far left and radical left have been associated with communism, Maoism, Autonomism and many forms of anarchism. They have been used to describe groups that advocate anti-capitalist, identity politics or eco-terrorism. In France, a distinction is made between the left (Socialist Party and Communist Party) and the far left (Trotskyists, Maoists and Anarchists). The US Department of Homeland Security defines left-wing extremism as groups who want "to bring about change through violent revolution rather than through established political processes."
Now, Maoism is what China subscribes to, and as such it is left wing. Geddit?
