What is this light for (Corsa B)

I drove one for many years. Still miss it. Its a real kanniedood like they say in Afrikaans

Yeah I had a 1997 Astra as well, still my favourite car. There was just something about it.

I agree it was a car you'd love but you don't know why. I remember with our Astra 200i Euro estate that car would make such a noise when sitting at 120km/h but as soon as you'd go to 140 or 160 the car would settle down and go quiet. It's like it loved being at that speed

My one was the same, 80 to 120 it would just kind of feel eh, but once you go passed 120 it would just feel amazing. I remember being young and an idiot in my youth where this guy in a Nissan Sabre challenged me to a race down the highway, and I got to the offramp about 5 minutes before he did. Young and stupid

Wow good to know.....I always used to think it's just ours that was like that. Lol those motors could shift, I don't think people realized how much power they had. The young and stupid days eh

A Corsa B is a legend, what was badly made about it? Mine is tougherer than a Hilux, way over 200k kms, with a suspension that can carry a load of tiles without breaking a sweat. A proper NA 1.4 engine, less than 900kg kerb weight, it is a decent car, nothing wrong about it.

the bakkie version? some people still swear by it, problem I have with it is its not as strong and sturdy as for an example a nissan 1400
its still fuel injected and that its biggest weakness, as fuel injection is a more complicated system and not as reliable as carburetors.

yes, emissions and fuel economy are the main reasons that cars are only fuel injected today, but carburetors are more able to stand up to abuse.
look how many nissan 1400 you find in rural areas, compared to nissan NP200 and corsa bakkies

Opels tend to be good cars it seems. The only think I don't understand is the extreme love for the Kadett shape, the Gsi & Superboss etc, I agree the engine is fantastic but the rest of the car is really rather ugly. Eye of the beholder I guess

Personally I think fuel injection is far superior to carburetors including reliability, its just not the kind of thing you or your local backyard mechanic can fix should something go wrong, that I believe is where the opinion comes from as people struggle to fix it.

EDIT: also I'm a bit young so I'm not sure but don't carbies need to be periodically cleaned and or rebuilt and adjusted?

Show me any small bakkie that comes even close to the legendary Nissan 1400?

But I was talking the hatch.

thought as much, the Nissan 1400 as a workhorse was legendary, the NP200 is just a cheap imitation.

a small hatchback, personally I think the Tazz (that I passed my DL licence on:p) or Citi golf. or even the corsa are great, but their job isnt as strenuous as a bakkie.

Seen how NP200 drivers always trying to race with their little 1.6 motors

Its the fear of the unknown... when logic reasoning flies out the window.
I've worked on these systems, and made quite a few bucks in my younger years, sorting out problems the mechanics cannot fix.
These EFI systems are considered the 8-bit RETRO of the EFI world, compared to today's EFI that's running 32 bit processors and VxWorks kernels and is as complicated as a modern Airbus A380.

Corsa's fuel injection is as simple as it gets. There's nothing complicated there. There's a throttle position sensor, MAP sensor, ICV, crank angle sensor, temperature sensor, injectors and coil pack. Out of these, the TPS, ICV, and coil pack are common sources of trouble as they get old.

It blinks when you lock the car with a remote in the Astra/Kadett F-generation. The Corsa shares many of its interior bits with the Astra.

Our esteemed panel of 1995 Astra GSi COTY enthusiasts can further elaborate on the cosmic purposes of the LED.

It the bloody Opel Monza 160GSi 1994 CoTY - you heathen.

You have say 7 mail Monzas and your sins will be forgiven.

cool, problem is more complexity breeds more problems, higher performance sure, and better emissions and fuel economy sure, but once again.

take as an example the VW beetle, what made it so successful? the fact anybody can fix it, and as it didn't have much, less things could break.

fuel injection is fantastic, but as you mentioned, more things to break and go wrong, yes fair enough if you understood it properly you could fix it.

but again, more to break, more can go wrong. so some car like a tazz can last forever as its easy to fix when things go wrong, and you dont need to know much to fix it.

same with the nissan 1400 and the Citi golf.

the corsa Bakkie and Hatch, not really, as they got fuel injection and computers ect...

I shall immediately maim the fingers that typed out such blasphemy and whip the back of my scrotum with the fibre line that enabled me to spew such falsehood.
