What is your monthly usage and ISP?

210Gig for my 1st week on Herotel 50/50 - mostly Xbox updates and a little looting on the high seas and then Netflix and Youtube. Haven't put my pc on for any updates on that side yet.
 
Afrihost 40mbps PureDSL currently stands at 3.71TB for the month and the line is still going strong. No throtlling or shaping on any service - true uncapped unshaped unthrottled internet the way it should be...

I get 40mbps down and 10mbps up on VDSL. My line is super stable - my daily usage is about 360 GB down and 25GB up, that is when I upload backups to Google drive and other work related stuff. Kids streaming Netflix and watching Youtube and downloading XBOX updates and games now that the schools are closed - so we are really getting awesome service on this line. Was thinking of upgrading to 100/100 fiber someday when Openserve completes the fiber network deployment and switch off the copper network. We are a happy internet family.
 
Holy sheet. what are you guys doing to use so much data?

I've got 2 people working from home, fulltime. all the cellphones and PCs doing their incessant updates, and Netflix always blaring on the TV, I spend half my life on youtube on 1080p and that comes to around 300GB per month.

200Mbps Afrihost fibre.

Yeah, moving to Glenwood next week shock and horror and fibre is not ready yet but openserve map says 40mb VDSL, not sure on line quality and distance to exchange.
 
it is the year 2021 and people still use the internet while looking over their shoulder instead of just using it as-is/as-needed :rolleyes:

If you are close to the DSLAM (exchange) say 2km and your area are not congested, then you can get a stable VDSL connection (20 or 40mbps) just make sure to ask to provision the line on VDSL - that is for 20 down and 5 up, or 40 down and 10 up - you can contact @AfriNatic for excellent assistance and service - he helped met get VDSL when there was "no service" Afrihost is the ISP for me!

Yes 4K streaming and Xbox games downloads and updates, Netflix in 4K on fast line can easily rank up high usage in a short time. Watching 4K content on Youtube and Netflix uses about 8GB per hour. So yeah, it is quite easy...

Once you start with the 4k streaming it changes a lot lol
 
Averaging 1.7TB power month.

5 adults and 2 kids. Vodacom Fibre 100mb all video is streamed across 4 TV sets with either DSTV Now, Netflix, YouTube or amazon video. Screenshot_20210716-091941_My%20Vodacom.jpg

I'm obviously living in the past. All my streaming devices is still set to the days where I had capped fixed LTE. I even cancelled Amazon Prime because it sucked tons of data, with no way to set the usage. Time to "unleash the power" and take away the limits now that I have fiber.

No worries, will definitely be using @AfriNatic, he helped my mate connect up his folks in port shepstone when their road wasn't labeled on the coverage map.

You should have no limits on fiber - it is uncapped unshaped unthrottled, fiber is the future and super fast connection that is great for 4K streaming and downloading. Gone are the days of worrying about data caps and restrictions - this is a pure service where we can use the internet as it was meant to be. 100mbps + lines are a bliss and a friend of mine has a 1Gbps line with Afrihost and the internet experience he has is amazingly fast. His household is more than happy!! I am not certain about his usage, but I can only assume it is in the region of lots of TB's...

Yeah, I have uncapped now. 200Mbps up and down and it actually reaches that speed. I started out with a 1GB line, but my Wi-Fi doesn't seem to want to go over about 350, and my main laptop doesn't have an ethernet port, so I scaled it down to 200.

Time to stop living in the past and get over my frugal ways with data. I've just switched my Netflix settings to full HD (apparently I've been on 480p. no wonder I barely use data)
