WARNING: If you are one of those gamers who moans about how stupid the developers are for releasing 5 great games this month and how are you supposed to find time to play them all (because you bought them all on release day) then this thread is probably not for you.
I find myself being a laggard in the gaming world. I never play online, only Single Player, and a good game is still a good game 3 years later when the expansion is out and the bugs patched. Hence I tend to be a bit behind the curve. Compounding the issue is that I take my favorites out for a spin now and then no matter how old they are. Games I have played in the last 5 years:
Civ IV: My current addiction. Found it last year Feb in a bargain bin, still enjoying it. So much depth to this game.
Dune 2: Took it for a twirl again after a few years
Starcon 2 campaign: Frungy, the sport of kings. Also an oldie I come back to every 5 years or so
Freelancer: Love this game. Wish they would make a sequel
Rome Total War: This game consumed 2 years of my life, especially after I got into some of the better mods like RTR
Master of Orion 2: Still a great classic that gets some love now and then
UFO: The one, the only, play it in dosbox once every 3 years or so
Lords of the Realm II: One of the first games to try Turn based campaign map and RT battles. Still play it occasionally
Diablo II LoD: Another game that I just can't quit. I could not begin to estimate how many hours I have played of this one. Diablo I also gets played on the very odd occasion. Can't stand not being able to run.
Hero's quest II: What a great golden oldie.
WC3/WC2/Starcraft: Love playing the single player campaign over again every couple years.
NOLF 2: Because Lol.
Probably forgot some. So what oldies do you guys whip out. I can't be the only guy that ignores the shiny new titles and lurks in the cobwebbed history of the gaming archives and abandon ware sites.
