WARNING: If you are one of those gamers who moans about how stupid the developers are for releasing 5 great games this month and how are you supposed to find time to play them all (because you bought them all on release day) then this thread is probably not for you. :)

I find myself being a laggard in the gaming world. I never play online, only Single Player, and a good game is still a good game 3 years later when the expansion is out and the bugs patched. Hence I tend to be a bit behind the curve. Compounding the issue is that I take my favorites out for a spin now and then no matter how old they are. Games I have played in the last 5 years:

Civ IV: My current addiction. Found it last year Feb in a bargain bin, still enjoying it. So much depth to this game.
Dune 2: Took it for a twirl again after a few years
Starcon 2 campaign: Frungy, the sport of kings. Also an oldie I come back to every 5 years or so
Freelancer: Love this game. Wish they would make a sequel
Rome Total War: This game consumed 2 years of my life, especially after I got into some of the better mods like RTR
Master of Orion 2: Still a great classic that gets some love now and then
UFO: The one, the only, play it in dosbox once every 3 years or so
Lords of the Realm II: One of the first games to try Turn based campaign map and RT battles. Still play it occasionally
Diablo II LoD: Another game that I just can't quit. I could not begin to estimate how many hours I have played of this one. Diablo I also gets played on the very odd occasion. Can't stand not being able to run.
Hero's quest II: What a great golden oldie.
WC3/WC2/Starcraft: Love playing the single player campaign over again every couple years.
NOLF 2: Because Lol.

Probably forgot some. So what oldies do you guys whip out. I can't be the only guy that ignores the shiny new titles and lurks in the cobwebbed history of the gaming archives and abandon ware sites.

They started ran out of money, then I gather microsoft axed the project funding, very very sad.

Ooo

Not really that old but I am lost in total war and the saboteur now ;)

Not that old but I just cannot keep away from Defense Grid which I bought for 2 dolla on Steam.

And the kids have started playing Black & White again.

the first operaion flashpoint.have the GOTY edition.love the detail, like in one map youre a pow, and when you have to escape you have to navigate via the stars.and the stars you have to find take quite a while.

il2 sturmovik 1946 edition (had another one before that but it was stolen).amazing ww2 combat flight sim.still seen as one of the best.

Played Diablo II LoD a while ago for ****s and giggles and also Starcraft I Broodwars

Baldurs Gate II and Icewind Dale II.

I used to play a lot of D2: LOD as recently as 2010. But not any more - after putting literally hundreds of hours into the game and even releasing my own mod, I finally got tired of it. Only took a decade!

Other than that, I also like a lot of emulated older games, like the Megaman series and the Street Fighter series.

And Missionforce: Cyberstorm! I have a VM setup to play that - doesnt work on Vista or 7.

Baldurs Gate II and Icewind Dale II.

BG2 FTW!!! I love that game. I play it every 2 years or so. I've finished it about 10 times in total (3 of those times playing through BG1 first and importing the characters).

Evil Genius
Startopia
Freelancer
Planescape Torment
Rome Total War

Happy to play these. Haven't bought a new game in almost three years time. Last one I got was Tropico3.

Descent II, got it from gog.com a few months ago. Awesome game back in the day.
Diablo 2

Thinking of installing Freespace 2 again and giving it a go; another awesome game ;)

Played the original Homeworld from start to finish a week ago. Still a fun game after all these years. I modded the game though to remove the cap on number of destroyers. Had about 25 of them by end game.
