What PSU for me?

The PSU should hold up with the 5850 but I wouldn't let it run my system :)

If it holds up I am fine with that.. I am upgrading the rest of my PC soon so I will wait to get a PSU then as it will be cheaper :D

PSU prices are relatively stable and don't really come down all that much with time, if at all ;)

When you actually look at the internals of these PSU you will see there are maybe 2-4 companies that actually make them. The rest are on contract construction with minimal design change and ofcourse the branding addition.

That said, when looking at tests of different brands, one can see where the brand owner has maybe asked for a change request. Cap usage, etc.

Would love to see a new form of PSU that has rock solid voltage lines, no ripple and can pack a decent amount of current efficiently. This would probably be expensive to produce and cut profit margins. We now see all these fancy solid state caps, etc, on motherboards so why not in PSUs?
