ATI X1950XTX 512Mb gfx card

1 200gig western digital HD

LG 226WTQ 22" monitor
Logitech Z5450 digital speakers

wait... you want to buy computer parts here and you going to singapore? dude... get the big parts like mobo's and keyboards here, and the processors, graphics and harddrvies there... you'll end up saving a lot (or at least I think so, I mean, things were cheap when I went to singapore 4 years ago)

scotty...
and want to upgrade parts of my computer while i am there.

All the basic parts of my computer i got in Malayasia 2 years ago (mobo, gfx, cpu, hd for under R6000), so i know the stuff is cheap that side. I have not really been keeping 100% up to date with the latest trends though, so thats why i was wondering what the good stuff is to get now, to last me for a while... :p

Will the 9800's run fine on the mobo i got now?

The 9800GX2 is one card with two GPU's. The price here is close to R7000 so getting it overseas would be advisable.

You looking to keep the mobo that you have and not upgrade it then?

well, if i dont need to upgrade i wont, but if i need to upgrade to get a new gfx card or cpu, then i have to i suppose..

my vote also goes for gpu. and if u wanna upgrade the cpu, feel free to donate the old one to me =D

lol.. was thinking along the gfx card lines.....

So my current mobo should be fine to handle the newest cards i presume?

I'd also advise you to upgrade the graphics card :)

ATI X1950XTX 512Mb gfx card is still a decent gfx card. Whatever he buys now, unless it's top of the line and very expensive and therefore carries
an "early-adopter" penalty will not be that much better than his current card.

If I was him I'd save up for a Dell 30 inch monitor. A 22 doesn't do justice for games.

OR buy yourself a gaming laptop like the Mac Book Pro in SG where you can dual boot Vista/XP.

But then he'd probably have to upgrade the graphics card soon in any case, to be able to play the latest games at the 30" monitor's native resolution. Maybe buy both? :D

X1950XTX will give you the speed of an 8600GTS or something like that.
Get an 8800GT/GTS 512MiB if you can...

9800GX2 :D......and with the spare change buy me one too:D

well, my 22" is only 8 months old, so i am in no rush to upgrade that, and sending that back from singapore might be a bit more difficult than the gfx card... :p

My current rig plays crysis ok, but i dont think i am going to upgrade again anytime soon after this, so i want something thats gonna last the next 2-3 years, and looking at the games etc coming out, i think it is gonna have to be the gfx card..

I have not overclocked the cpu yet, so when it starts to feel the strain i guess i could get a bit more power out of it then..
