I want to get a UPS unit for my Apple G5 Dual 2.0Ghz, but am not too sure what size to get.

I used Mactracker to get the details on the power supply of the G5. I got the following details:

Line Voltage: 100-125V AC or 200-240V AC
Max Watts: 450W

I want a UPS that will give me 15 minutes uptime so that I can save my applications and shutdown.

I have a 600vA UPS, but this barely gives me 2 minutes. Will a 1kVA be enough, or should I rather go for a 2kVA unit?

A 1kva should do but I'd go for a 1.5kva to be sure.

The bigger the better, remember there may be other things that must be kept running, such as switches etc, although these could be connected to the redundant 600VA. Watch out about connecting monitor (as opposed to lcd) display to ups as the former pull a lot of juice.

Try this site to size your UPS.

You do know that you will void your warranty if you don't use the apple power adapter cables to connect your G5 to the UPS? They have special chips embedded to regulate the UPS sine waves.
